Oops, at least now we know who is tweetin for the big guy.
What makes Trump stand out outside of being Trump is the economy. In fact the situation is almost the same as 2016.
The US is on war footing with Russia over a proxy war (Syria/Iran back then, Ukraine now), the economy is in tatters and the establishment tells you that everything is going great or that we will never see higher economic growth again. As Obama said it: "There is no magic wand that Trump can use to fix the economy" but apparently he did find one and the voters want him to repeat that trick.
In 2020 Trump basically stood alone against everyone else. In 2024 he has his old allies back (Stone, Bannon etc.) but also new ones like Joe Rogan as well as left wing voices who don't outright endorse him but clearly view him more favorable as Joe Biden.
Plus all the stuff that hurt hillary in 2016 (a lack of trust in media and institutions) has only been amplified in recent times. At first this worked against Trump because he was partially responsible for the COVID vaccines (and claimed credit and such). However they've hit him with so many indictments and lawsuits that he can easily claim he is the outsider fighting the system and the system fears him.
