I'm finally now trying to actually put this plan into motion, but just find it really overwhelming, and am not sure how to go about everything.
I don't have any special work experience, so I assume a student visa would be my best bet. I'd love to go to school for photography, but I have kinda poor eyesight so I'm not sure if that'd hinder my chances at a career in that. I should have a decent bit of money to make moving even possible sometime in the coming months as I'm selling some property that was left to me. I feel like I can't actually start the ball rolling though until it's sold, but feel so restless and helpless just waiting for that to happen.
This is a weird mixture of asking for advice, and venting my feelings so sorry for how rambly this sounds. I just feel sort of aimless right now despite knowing what I want to do. 1. I have not.
2. I was hoping to move just outside a large city like London so I could easily commute.
3. High school, with no higher degree (though 2 years of college).
4. English speaking, US in general kinda worries me with it's gun violence, and conservative politics (which I know the UK isn't the best with the latter, but I was always under the impression it was better than the US at least.)

This is going to be a sad post, so if that's not allowed, feel free to delete, or you'd rather not read I understand. Or if this is the wrong place for it, apologies.
I've collected plush all my life, it was a shared joy with me and my Great Grandmother, who was essentially my mother from 6 months-17 years old. She was also a bit of a hoarder if I'm being honest, so we accumulated a lot of them.
I'm finally moving soon, pretty far away at that. And I've finally been faced with the reality of what to do with my army of plush. I have a small shelf of my most important ones that I knew I'd be keeping, but I set out to sort through all the rest to decide who would be coming with me...and I managed to whittle down about half of them, much as it pained me.
Which brings me to today...where I realized that even that half will probably be too much to ship. I can't drive so can't pack them in a car to drive them. I'm not taking any furniture or the like, so a moving company isn't really practical. So I'm left with having to whittle down the half even further, and as silly as it sounds, it's breaking my heart a little. I love these guys and even though I'm keeping the truly essential ones to me, I still hate giving up so many.
Sorry to be so rambly, TLDR being how to cope with getting rid of a lot of plushies, and are there any good places to donate besides thrift stores? (no family to take them). I hope I'm able to post some of the ones I kept in this community when I'm settled next month.
(As a bonus question, I have three extra special ones that I'd like to hold on to my person during the move, but one is about 2 feet tall...would it be possible to squish him into a carry on size bag you think?) Took until today to finally comb through all my stuff and check the remaining places it could be but it's just gone. And the people who cleared it out can't seem to help.
It's not the end of the world I know but it still really saddens me, just another depressing thing of the last few months. Silly as it sounds I feel even worse for another plushie I WAS able to grab. They were always a paired set as a kid so he essentially lost his best friend.
Just venting some sadness from today. Love and cherish your plush everyone.

Spoiler: generated FAQ, Quiz, Timeline and Briefing (click to show)(click to hide) Quote:Frequently Asked Questions
Why did the recent election results not significantly impact the author, and what does it reveal about their perspective on the American political landscape?
The author felt no significant emotional impact from the election outcome because they have no expectations for the United States to act in a morally consistent or just manner. They believe American politics is a superficial "team sport" centered on maintaining the capitalist system, driven by reactionary impulses rather than genuine principles or community. The election results, for them, only confirmed what they already knew about the country's flaws.
What is the author's opinion on the role of race in American politics, particularly regarding Black voters and the responsibility of white people?
The author believes that Black people cannot be relied upon to swing elections due to their relatively small proportion of the population and the systemic disenfranchisement they face. The author places the onus on white people to dismantle capitalist and colonial structures, which they see as inextricably linked with white supremacy. This requires significant work and organization, and a recognition that current feelings of being "tired" are not warranted given the lack of action.
What does the author believe is the root cause of the rise in fascism and why is social media often wrongly blamed?
The author argues that the root cause of the rise in fascism is neoliberal capitalism. Wealthy elites manipulate systems to maintain their power and convince people that their hardships are due to issues like immigration or crime, rather than acknowledging systemic economic inequality. Social media is wrongly blamed, according to the author, because it is merely a tool that is used to further these agendas; if social media were to disappear, the wealthy would still control other media channels.
How does the author connect the issues of colonialism, capitalism, and personal choices?
The author argues that capitalism inherently employs harmful practices, such as slave labor, and is closely tied to colonialism. They believe that people often support these systems either through naivete or active maliciousness. Ultimately, the author asserts that systems of oppression are maintained because many people are willing to accept them.
What are the key points from Adam Conover's analysis on why Democrats struggle to win elections?
Adam Conover identifies the Democrats' lack of meaningful civic engagement and grassroots organization as key to their failures. Historically, the Democratic party used to have multiple organizations which facilitated dialogue with politicians; however, these have largely disappeared, and current efforts are limited to things like door-knocking and phone-banking. This decline, according to Conover, has led to a lack of political agency, as well as social isolation and loneliness.
What does the author emphasize as the solution to the current political and social problems?
The author advocates for active participation in organizing within communities to address real world issues. They emphasize the importance of building community, establishing neighborhood support networks and working to solve problems with contextually-based solutions. The author also believes that true change requires addressing the root causes of inequality, and this means more than just fundraising; it requires real-world action.
What are the author's criticisms of the Democratic Party, and how does this criticism tie to broader issues of liberalism and political organizing?
The author criticizes the Democratic Party for being internally inconsistent, as it tries to cater to too many competing interests. They also see liberals as being too close to conservatives. They view liberal "virtue signaling" as insincere. The author also points to how liberals quickly turn on groups of people when they feel as though the support isn't reciprocal. This demonstrates a lack of commitment to genuine community building and organizing.
What unconventional example does the author use to illustrate how social groups can be both fun and political?
The author humorously mentions furries as an unconventional example of a group that can be both social and political. They point out that the furry community, which is sometimes considered a silly or frivolous hobby, also has elements of queerness, union organizing, and anti-fascism built into its culture. This is meant to illustrate that organization and political engagement don't have to be purely serious to be effective.

According to the author, why was the author not disappointed by the election results?
What does the author identify as the primary reason for the rise of fascism, and how does this relate to social media?
How does the author describe the current state of civic and political organization in America?
What are the main critiques of the Democratic Party, according to the author?
Why does the author suggest that white people need to be the ones to lead the charge in changing the system?
What is the author's critique of liberals, specifically in their treatment of minority groups?
According to the author, why do conservatives hate white liberals?
What does the author mean when they say that "economics determines the culture"?
What is the author's position on community involvement, and why do they think it's important?
What surprising example does the author give as a large, left-wing oriented community that generates millions of dollars?
Answer Key
The author was not disappointed because they had no expectations of the country, especially not expecting conservatives to be anything other than "reactionary, fascistic assholes" and not expecting liberals to confront their own shortcomings. The author sees the American political landscape as a meaningless "team sport" rather than a genuine effort toward meaningful change.
The author identifies neoliberal capitalism as the root cause of fascism, not social media. Social media is just a tool that can be used to amplify existing problems, but the fundamental issue is the economic system.
The author describes the current state of civic and political organization as nearly destroyed, noting a move away from grassroots engagement to superficial interactions with politicians and the party. The lack of community building and organizing has resulted in isolation and powerlessness.
The author criticizes the Democratic Party for being inconsistent and contradictory, trying to cater to opposing groups with conflicting interests, rather than having a clear political identity. The party is also described as primarily a fundraising machine, rather than an organization that promotes meaningful civic engagement.
White people need to lead the charge because they represent the majority of the population and are the ones who need to confront their own role in maintaining systems of power and oppression. Black people, being a minority, do not have the numerical power to change the system alone.
The author argues that many liberals have a "savior-like" attitude toward minorities, primarily wanting to expand the benefits of capitalism to them. However, when these groups do not conform to liberal views, the author suggests that they are often discarded, exposing a latent bigotry.
The author suggests that some conservatives hate white liberals because they perceive their allyship as insincere, noting that their performative gestures are often shallow and not backed by genuine engagement. Conservatives recognize their inconsistency and ineffectiveness in daily life.
The author believes that the economic system and its conditions shape the cultural values, norms, and beliefs of a society, rather than the other way around. So, problems such as fascism are not ultimately due to social or cultural issues, but by their underlying economic systems.
The author emphasizes the crucial need for community involvement and local organization as a means to create real change. They argue that this type of engagement is necessary to counteract political apathy and address the needs of communities effectively.
The author cites furries as a surprising example of a large, left-wing oriented community that generates millions of dollars, noting their alignment with values such as queerness, unionizing, and anti-fascism.

Adam Conover: (Referenced) Host of "Adam Ruins Everything." Diagnoses the Democratic party's decline as stemming from a lack of civic engagement. His ideas on how civic engagement should work are described in detail in the document.
Rosa: (Likely a reference to Rosa Luxemburg) a historian cited as an example of how research alone doesn't necessarily mean awareness of larger systemic issues.
Malcolm and Kwame: (Likely Malcolm X and Kwame Ture/Stokely Carmichael) radical Black leaders cited as exemplars of why it is better to die than to support the Democratic party.
Ben Shapiro: (Referenced) Used as an example of someone who could not convince the author of right-wing ideas due to the author's lived experiences and education.
Scrooge: (Referenced) From "A Christmas Carol," used to illustrate how forgiveness is insufficient without returning ill-gotten gains and working for decolonization.
Barks: (Likely Carl Barks) Used as an example of an author who would not have been knowledgeable enough to include decolonization into the story of Scrooge.
Black Panthers: Used as a model of effective grassroots organizing, with a focus on real-world change and direct community action as opposed to merely fundraising.
People on "Era": (Likely refers to members of a particular internet forum.) Used as an example of people who do not like or respect people outside their own sphere.
Quote:Briefing Document: Analysis of "Pasted Text"
Date: October 26, 2023 Subject: Analysis of Political and Social Commentary Prepared for: Internal Review
Executive Summary: This document analyzes a text expressing disillusionment with the current state of American politics and society. The author critiques both conservative and liberal factions, highlighting perceived hypocrisy, ineffectiveness, and a lack of genuine commitment to social justice. The piece argues that systemic issues, particularly neoliberal capitalism and its reinforcement of white supremacy, are the root causes of societal problems, not merely social media. The author advocates for community organizing, grassroots engagement, and a direct confrontation with the material conditions perpetuating injustice.
Key Themes and Ideas:
Disillusionment with the American Political System:
The author expresses a deep lack of faith in the political system, seeing it as a "reactionary team sport drama" focused on the "capitalist kingdom" rather than meaningful change. They state, "The American political landscape is not guided by meaningful principles, community, or a commitment to life."
They admit to not having expectations for the country. "Being disappointed would have meant having expectations of this country that I expected it to meet or exceed. But I don't have expectations for this shitty country."
The author sees both liberals and conservatives as deeply flawed, pointing out "the contradictory shortcomings of their politics and the latent bigotries that lay underneath when push comes to shove" of liberals and the "reactionary, fascistic assholes" that are conservatives.
Critique of White American Society and Apathy:
The author places significant blame on white people for the current state of affairs, arguing that they have the power and responsibility to dismantle oppressive systems. "That in turn is an indictment on the majority of the voting populus, aka white people."
They dismiss claims of being "tired" as "bullshit" and indicative of laziness and a lack of commitment to social change. "Because you all have literally done nothing to warrant being checked out, or 'tired.'... You're not tired; you're spoiled and pissed you didn't get your way."
The text stresses that Black people cannot be solely responsible for political change given their minority status. "Y'all can't depend on Black people for electoral help because we're 13% of the total population... We can't swing elections."
The author states that white people must make a "concerted effort to actually break down capitalistic and colonial barriers" including "get[ting] rid of white supremacy"
Neoliberal Capitalism as the Root Cause of Problems:
The author argues that neoliberal capitalism is the primary driver of social ills, not social media. They state, "Social media is not the root issue for the rise in fascism. It's neoliberal capitalism."
They contend that wealthy individuals manipulate public opinion to maintain their power and exploit the working class. "You have a bunch of wealthy people who are personally invested in remaining wealthy. Their wealth inherently comes at the cost of the livelihood of everyone who is not wealthy."
The author believes that these powerful elites "have deliberately rigged systems to absolutely fuck you over."
The Insufficiency of Social Media and the Need for Direct Action:
The author disputes the idea that social media is the source of political polarization or the rise of fascism. "Killing the Internet is not going to stop fascism. You stop fascism by directly addressing the conditions that cause it, which is the rot of neoliberal capitalism."
They argue that those in power still control traditional media, making it dangerous to rely on social media to solve problems. "You shut down social media, they still have control of the televisions, the newspapers, the radio, and the ear of the politicians."
The text advocates for directly addressing the economic conditions that give rise to fascism.
Critique of Liberalism and Democratic Party:
The author views liberalism as deeply flawed, arguing that it is "closer to conservatism" than liberals acknowledge. "Liberalism is closer to conservatism than liberals are comfortable reckoning with."
The author sees "a pitiable, savior-like attitude towards minorities" that is less about genuine support than maintaining control.
They criticize the Democratic Party for its lack of meaningful organization, community engagement and its failure to commit to either neoliberal capitalism or progressive socialism. "Democrats need to either go all in on neoliberal capitalism or all in on progressive socialism. Pick an identity and stick to it."
The author is particularly critical of the focus on fundraising, contrasting it with the organizing tactics of groups like the Black Panthers. "Democrats are fundraisers. The Black Panthers were organized. There's a difference."
The author states that a "big tent" means a lot of contradictions and an inability to meaningfully support different causes. "When I hear 'big tent,' I really hear 'contradictions.' You can't fight for queer rights if you must cater to queerphobes."
The author cites the fact that the Democrats blame losses on police abolition as an example of a two-faced party. "They're also instituting cop cities to further militarize police both here and abroad, and indeed blame the last round of midterm losses on ideas like police abolition. You see two-faced shit like that..."
Importance of Community Organizing and Direct Action:
The author stresses that the solution to all of the problems is community organizing. "It's a lack of organization, stupid."
The author emphasizes the need for grassroots organization and community involvement as a way to address social and political issues. "Join an organization today, or take the initiative to start one yourself. Get hip with your actual community and learn what they actually need."
The text highlights the decline of civic engagement and organization in American society and implores people to "reforge new organizations and ways of organizing."
They state that any type of organization is important, formal or informal, as long as people are helping their communities. "If you set up a neighborhood group to check in on each other and make sure supplies are secured and local reliability for things like transportation is an option, congrats. You're organized."
The author states that organizing must include "planning and debating strategy, civic engagement and protest, and the instituting of practical solutions and programs to address community grievances and problems."
They cite Adam Conover's ideas about the decline of civic engagement and meaningful organizing as an example of what is wrong with American politics.
Critique of performative activism and lack of real solutions:
The author criticizes performative actions and a lack of real commitment to change. The author contends that people may "play like they give a damn" without actually having true care for causes.
The author notes that people aren't "right-wing solely because of TikTok (or honestly any other social media platform)." "They're right-wing because they were already susceptible to right-wing modes of thought from the passive act of living in a conservative country that is overtly hostile to education and socialism..."
They argue that the focus on "in-fighting" within liberal groups is a sign of their inability to function effectively. "Look at how obsessed they are about 'in-fighting' all the damn time, unaware that successful organizations and civil rights movements actually fight all the time because we're trying to solve large, global issues and no one has perfect answers."
Need to address colonialismThe author states "there is no reason to constantly reprint [the story of scrooge]... unless his forgiveness involves both giving the wealth back and using his station in life to get involved with decolonislism. Otherwise it's just self-serving for Scrooge."
The author states that "people like colonialism" and that "if you like capitalism, then that's something you need to contend with."
Conclusion: The text presents a scathing critique of the American political and social landscape. The author argues that real change requires a fundamental shift away from neoliberal capitalism, a dismantling of white supremacy, and a renewed focus on community organizing and grassroots action. They stress that focusing on social media or individual "tiredness" is not only futile but also distracts from the real work needed to address systemic injustices. The core message is a call to action: individuals must engage with their communities, address systemic economic problems, and directly confront the systems that perpetuate oppression.
Quote:The author cites furries as a surprising example of a large, left-wing oriented community that generates millions of dollars, noting their alignment with values such as queerness, unionizing, and anti-fascism.
No buckle up?

Nintendo has sat on the Switch too long. So many other great handhelds have come out since the Switch. The design of the Switch 2 is boring. The name Switch 2 is boring. The fact it's likely going to start with an LCD again is dumb. I suspect the launch games will be kinda meh. Nothing like a Breath of the Wild.
The only interesting thing it has going for it is nVidia's DLSS and I'm sure somehow even that will be underwhelming.
But Nintendo fans will eat it all up. Like everything they do.

It was bad but not WiiU levels of bad. Nintendo is going to be fine, for better or worse.
That's a lot of pent up "PS5 has no games" anger from terroradagio.
Anyway...
