This is the truth. Those metacritic lists are filled with hundreds of sites i've never heard of before, and probably half of them are questionable fanboy slop to try to rig those all important metacritic scores.. I legitimately cannot remember the last time i read a websites review of a game.

User reviews all the way. Someone like a steam reviews metacritic would be more useful.

I read the critic reviews, but I do so in this way: I scroll to the bottom and ONLY read the most outlet negative handful of reviews, and evaluate if those criticisms seem credible and/or like something that would bother me (or might even be something I like).

There’s praise for the combat. But when the story and characters are the problem, you’re losing a major appeal of these games. Sounds like Dragon Age 4 was even worse in that regard.

no bitch, objective information is what helps people the most in determining if they'll like something

even jim's intentionally useless objective review can't help but be helpful to consumers by showing footage of the game playing in the background, you can use that to help decide if you'll like it or not

and generally, breathless positive reviews leave out inconvenient facts that don't fit the narrative, they might leave out the amount of playtime, performance issues, crashes, specific information about moments that bugged them...

like you can say "there's a line in the game where a character says 'mom, I'm non-binary'" and don't editorialize about that at all, and it speaks volumes
