I think it's incredibly fucked up to cheer for the suffering of people who did nothing to you. Random Americans living their lives, including the people who have fought and continue to fight against Trump, are not the same thing as soldiers fighting in a war. Even conscripts who didn't want to join the war are not the same thing as people completely unrelated. Though I also would not cheer for their deaths specifically.

The actions of a government have never spoken for every single person living in that country. It never has. That's why you can criticize the actions of a country like Russia or Israel without being bigoted towards their people. And that's not a comparison I want to make personally because I don't think the situations are comparable but everyone keeps shouting these comparisons at me as if it proves I'm wrong. But, no, I wouldn't cheer for the suffering of random civilians in Israel either.

America started this trade war. The random American you do not know who lives paycheck to paycheck and now can't afford to keep the lights on didn't.
And the part of my post everyone keeps ignoring is that I understand and support the actions taken by Canada here. I don't blame them for responding to the actions of the American government. My issue is with this "fuck all Americans, I hope you all suffer more" attitude some people have. And the wave of people suggesting I'm making this up or it's a strawman is ridiculous. It's been in every single thread about this for the past several days. There were so many people salivating at the idea entire states having the power cut that I had to confirm in a thread what they meant by that because I couldn't believe people were saying such a thing and I made sure to specify if that would also include hospitals and emergency services. And if anyone tries to suggest "hey maybe making this about the people vs the people isn't the best idea", y'all come out comparing them to people saying "not all men".

I can see that the way I think about this is clearly a minority opinion here. And nobody enjoys the dogpile responses of seeing 10+ replies insulting you or telling you to shut up. But I felt it worth making one last post to clarify my feelings on this. Personally, I like the speech Trudeau made the other day. He said that nobody wins in a trade war and he knows we didn't ask for this any more than you did. That's the truth. So cheering on and celebrating the suffering of any civilian on either side of this is, to me, wrong. If that makes me a piece of shit, alright I guess.

But many American liberals couldn't be bothered to join the fight in pressuring Biden and Kamala and standing up for an obvious instance of oppression when the moment presented itself because of their cowardly, sniveling insistence on "unity" and "decorum." But now they want to complain about fascism now? Like, the fascism was here already and they were the ones goose-stepping because it was a group of people they thought were easily disposable for the sake of political ambition. The moment arrived months ago and wasn't met. Everyone should have been lighting Biden and Kamala up, because Democrats don't stand for genocide right.... Right?

That whole row let me know right then and there some folks around here just don't actually have any hard morals beyond voting D down the ticket, no matter how ghoulish some of these people they let into the Party are.

The terrible voice for Naoe aside: I thought the world had agreed that upon that giving "foreign" people an accent when the game/movie takes place IN these "foreign" (putting that in quotation marks, because they're actually not foreign in the context) environments is racist?! If you had the stereotypical "white savior"-setting where Japanese people talk in broken English to the American hero, then it'd make sense. But this game features Japanese heroes who grew up in Japan, who ALL speak Japanese. So when you turn them into English-speakers, it then becomes their regular language, so they wouldn't have that accent.

Really don't like this decision of Ubisoft here.
