Gonna “well, actually” here. Watched a BTS video of one of their marvel movies. They had a clever solution for having super people run fast while filming outside. They had a long mat pulled by a car. The stuntmen ran across the mat as the car accelerated, creating the illusion of running super fast. But then they layered so much vfx on top of it the scene looks fake and rubbery. Mission Impossible Fallout is a good movie but they do the same thing there with the halo jump. You have Tom Cruise and a cameraman jump out of a plane. Then in the movie it’s set at night, with fake clouds and a storm, and it makes a cool stunt look janky.

You people might like The Wolf of Snow Hollow. There's not been many good werewolf movies but this one is worth a watch. Especially if you like Fargo.

100 mill is fuck all when you have DiCaprio in your movie. Killers Of The Flower Moon was around 200 mill

Heretic was...good.
I'm not really a fan of jump scares in films so this one being more cerebral horror was great. 2 users liked this post: TylenolJones, HeavenIsAPlaceOnEarth

Nothing scarier than being trapped in a house with a smug athiest who wants to talk about religion

I like how it’s the same story as “THIS IS SPARTA”
Actors should occasionally yell their lines on the off chance the director thinks it’s cool. It usually is! 1 user liked this post: benji

The first time I tried to watch Inherent Vice I switched it off because it wasn't making much sense. I read the book a few months back then watched it again last night. It made a bit more sense. It's not perfect by any means but knowing the characters definitely helped. It's going to be interesting to see how PTA adapted Vineland.

I watched Inherent Vice on a long flight where one tends to be delirious and often interrupted by meals and messages. In a way it felt like the right vibe and experience feeling loopy and lost. So much so I’ve been meaning to rewatch it for years but I’m concerned I won’t like it nearly as much.

It's one of those films you have to be in the mood for. People always compare it to Big Lebowski which is fair enough but I think it's closer to Chinatown. It's probably a good idea to watch that first then Vice.

Beatles cast is weird. I know Hollywood casts in instagram followers or currently popular actors. Like they’re talking about that lady from Shogun appearing in a post credits scene as Yoko. But it’s The Beatles. You could get away with relatively smaller actors like in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Is the Beatles thing supposed to be one film PER Beatle?

Black Bag is good. Tight 80-some minute whodunnit thriller. Recommend.

Watched Hellboy: The Crooked Man which - did this shit even get released outside of streaming? - is pretty good, despite having bad critical aggregate. Its probably the best Hellboy Film.
Not the best Hellboy film (the first one is, obviosuly) but the best Hellboy film. Given how bad the ciritcal consensus is, and its honestly actually pretty good, I was pretty surprised by some of the stuff people didn't like - like, that it comes across as a horror film but isn't scary (because its a fucking hellboy film), has a lot of tropey creepy stuff (because its a fucking hellboy film), and also that it lifts a lot of shots directly from the comics (because its a fucking good hellboy film). If you like hellboy, I dont really see a scenario where you dont like this. As a film its probably the second best hellboy film? Its pretty close to what I was hoping for with the Sam Raimi Dr Strange, in that its set up for an authentically creepy scenario and antagonist, but the protagonist is a fucking comic book hero. Tonal clash is kind of the point - you got supernatural shenanigans a plenty, and hellboys just a fucking brick to punch them, shoot them, or punch them then shoot them. Some really good practical VFX going on too.

Quote:Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn't just help you craft, it's essential to one's survival! Four misfits--Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks)--find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they'll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Jack Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative... the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.??? |
