Hi all. I'm another long-time lurker. I never knew if I should really go ahead and get an account until recently so here I am. Thanks for letting me join.

Not sure what to say about myself so I'll probably end up saying way too much. I'm 38, Canadian, and Trans. I am not religious. Politically I'm leftist which is to say, I'm not a liberal and I am progressive or even radical on just about everything I can think of. I don't really adhere to a particular tent within leftist ideas, but I am open and curious to anything I haven't already had to address and even then, I don't believe in certainty. I'll listen to a good argument with the caveat that most people don't know what a good argument looks or sounds like.

I dabble in gamedev, I write fiction, and I have a background in education -- I used to be a public school teacher. I also have background in philosophy, literature, and narrative/instructional design. These days, I am mostly a pixel artist. I learned for gamedev but it's become a major passion of mine and I would love to do it full time.

I also love Lego, movies, shows, and am fascinated by media in general even if sometimes it doesn't love me back. Not into "fandom" and am generally pretty critical of parasocial behaviors of all kinds. I'm probably just old fashioned.

When it comes to playing video games, I am eclectic and I finish most of the games I play beyond sampling the goods. Right now I am playing MH Wilds, SW Outlaws, and Roots of the Pacha. My opinions on games usually run toward the contextual/analytical. I don't care about streamers, achievements, completionism, tech incrementalism, or "my console can beat up your console". I'm here for the real shit. Real people with real thoughts and feelings on stuff I care about.

I believe in redemption, but not for this shit. If you mess with kids, you're not on my side. I don't care about any other detail about your life. Whether I'm doing a shot for something, a whole short, writing something, whatever- I outright spend significant amounts of time planning and trying to glean a general project overview so I know what I'm in for. And even then, I still double the amount of time I predict it'll take to account for contingencies.

I do, it's because they're just reflexively in support of anything that seems anti-American/anti-Western/etc., since those are bad there must be something good about anyone against it. I can't recall the last time I've heard a "leftist" actually express real support for and defend the system of one of these countries they constantly prop up (other than the time to time people who seem to legitimately believe the propaganda like that one guy on Era a little bit back), it's always blah blah they challenge the American/Western hegemon, blah blah they have to be that way to protect themselves from the capitalists and colonialists, blah blah.
