There's a 16-year age gap between my wife and I. It only seemed to be a problem with other people. She always felt insulted because people thought I was taking advantage of her and she was just too dumb to realize it. It's infatalizing.
And when you think about it, she is a millennial and I'm a Gen x it's not like there's that big of a difference. But that age gap is pretty wild even by my pedo standards. This feels closer to elder abuse ![]() Austin Walker's (yes, that dude) Star Wars podcast not "reviewing" Andor Season 2 because Disney is on some BDS list. Instead they'll be covering Kotor using their Microsoft Windows (also on the BDS list) PC with an Nvidia (on some BDS lists) graphics card. ![]()

The whole explanation is so dramatic
Quote:A More Civilized Age will not be covering Andor Season 2 as planned, due the the ongoing boycott of Disney Plus by the BDS Movement. ![]()

While an extreme example I do feel that in the end it's a better way.
In the past it happened too and fathers raised children that weren't theirs to protect the integrity and reputation of the family. People used to joke about it, the kid was from the milk man if it didn't look much like the dad. Society just can't move forward if we stay stuck on the status quo of only 19 y/o virgins are suitable for marriage on one hand and ~60% - 70% of women dating through apps swiping the same 50 guys that fly them to Dubai as human toilets on the other. 99% of us just aren't going to find that perfect 10/10 super model or super chad. Our generation was just completely fucked and unprepared for all this. Now all we can do is try to unfuck it. ![]()

Similar disagreements will certainly arise in the future, and our views will also continue to evolve and change. However, it’s also important to note that we can disagree pretty strongly and continue to work together to make AMCA as good as it can be, a show that every member can participate and take pride in. LucasArts, which is owned by Disney? The very company we're boycotting the show over? ![]()

Quote:I truly appreciate the moral clarity, but I feel like cancelling prominent left wing coverage of the only prominent left wing TV series is a perfect encapsulation of why the left is currently incapable of building lasting movements. Libs and cons understand the necessity of realpolitik. ![]() I appreciate though how they can only ever really argue with claims of something being damaging. Watching Andor? That's literally killing people in Gaza! Not watching Andor? That's literally handing the Nazis the white house! ![]()

I love how these types think "we're like the good guys in this, you want to be like the good guys, right?" is such a powerful and convincing argument for their ideology. That's the only way you can reason from "us talking about this show is important" because that will somehow get people to watch it and they'll uncritically adopt any view the show promotes.
Like, how completely ignorant of your "foes" do you have to be to not realize the central narrative of MAGA is that they're the people's resistance against a great empire of evil that only their unique superhuman savior can defeat? ![]()
