I dropped it after a couple of hours. I couldn't stomach the writing.

I really wanted to like it, but the lack of connective tissue to the previous games along with the general writing quality made me feel like a tourist in that world and not an inhabitant. The gameplay was solid but so was Mass Effect Andromeda's :/

Decent game.

Bioware needs a new writing team.

Not worth of the Dragon Age name, completely dumbed down, but in combat and dialogue.

I still can't believe that the first game that lets us go to Tevinter doesn't even let us explore the Imperium to any reasonable degree, just a boring slum.

The gameplay? Great! The writing? Eh, I mean it was better than Andromeda, but that's a backhanded compliment if anything lol.

A game that failed at the most essential thing people are looking for in BioWare games and consequently not only ended up killing one of my favorite franchises but probably also BioWare (I don't really have much hope for the ME game).

Ok enough game, but a bad Dragon Age game.

A team plagued by bad upper management, that managed to pull it out of the fire as a functional and technically well done game (performance, visuals, hair tech).

That said, the writing was atrocious and I'm not sure that's managements fault.

Mediocre at best, terrible at worst. The game successfully killed any interest I have in Dragon Age as a franchise.

I miss Shepard and the gang.
I miss 2010 BioWare.

loved it. Emmrich is one of my favorite companions ever, and a deeply touching romance.

I wish it'd been more heavy on the RPG, but i did have fun with the broken builds you could make.

Story was decent. Not amazing, but a satisfying closure to the Solas storyline.

Overall really enjoyed it. It's a game with flaws that got slammed way harder than it deserved because chuds went after it and it was an easy punching bag that got amplified by legitimate criticisms.

I'd die for Manfred.

I am 80 hours in and LOVING it. So good to be back in Thedas once again.

But then...

As a newcomer to the series, the game is absolutely awful at attracting new players or easing them into the setting. I don't ask for big infodumps necessarily but some exposition would be helpful. But the game drops all these characters and Proper Nouns on you without any explanation, context, etc. If you want to know anything I guess you have to dig through extremely tedious codex entries, which, nah.

The art style is aggressively generic and tepid and does the game no favour. It looks cartoony and hearing that previous games were much darker brands of fantasy makes me sad.

Combat wise it starts out very mediocre, it gets a bit better once you have more abilities but the skill tree is kind of a pain to navigate. Exploring levels can be somewhat fun, the most fun I had was running around trying to figure out "how do I get up to that chest" kind of thing. Sadly though it's not rewarding because the loot is usually crap lol

Writing-wise, it's pretty dire. Solas has good dialogue... that's about it. The dialogue is absolutely insufferable. I don't watch Marvel movies but even so, I'm sure this is what everyone means by "Marvel dialogue", it's just dire. The necromancer dude is amusing, but most characters are just boring overall.

It absolutely is. By what metric do you think this isn't? At best, this is probably going to end up making a little more than Cap 4. That's not impressive.

First of all, expectations are wildly different for a Thunderbolts film than a Captain America film.

Second, "underwhelming at best" is a ridiculous amount of hyperbole. It had a very solid opening weekend by most metrics and the legs are what will make the film's results.

Tbolts is going to make enough to make it worth it, even if it finishes on the lower end. Ancillary revenue beyond BO profit + the movie being well received is pretty much priceless to the brand right now. It will be fine is basically what I'm getting at

Okay I'm going to be real right now, given what I've seen today online, I think the internet is letting chuds control the narrative of GTA6 discourse and it's being used to dismiss any and all criticism of the trailer and the GTA series.

I feel like I would get dogpiled for saying this on any of the GTA VI threads but I feel like the only person in the world just not interested in GTA6, or seems to remember the series has a LONG history of treating women poorly, from nasty stereotypes, nothing but sex objects or are best generic girlfriends/wives who get next to no characterization. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills a bit and don't trust Rockstar one minute, even with a women PC not to do the same (especially when it came to light Rockstar "boys clubs" culture and poor treatment of women workers in the past), that trailer did not convince me otherwise.

This also feels a bit disturbing because the GTA fandom has a history of harassing and threatening women who dare criticize the treatment of women and the misogyny in the games; like I still remember the way Carolyn Petit was sent death threats, abuse and transphobia for weeks for her 9/10 review of GTA5 because she had a paragraph.

Also to be blunt I'm not against sex in video games, but I get the sense there wouldn't be as many people supporting and defending it if the trailer didn't include leering shots of Lucia Caminos arse or if she wasn't conveniently attractive (see the freakout and anger against Abby's sex scene in The Last of Us Part 2), or if the sex scene was instead a non-exploitative same-sex scene between two men or two women.

Also quite bluntly kind of disturbing finding people online and even era joking about how games let your murder prostitutes after having sex with them; way to show your support for women there... Quite honestly, I'm worried about this game releasing because I feel like ERA and the internet is going to be filled with fanboys dogpiling any women who dares criticize this games treatment of women of any othe problematic and bigoted content like transphobia.

I feel like more and more, I've come to the conclusion that for some, their only allies, whether trans allies, feminist allies etc until their favourite thing is criticized for it, in which case they'll suddenly turn. You see that a lot with Rowling and HP but I feel it's so damn universal and kind of makes it clear people care more about their heroes, favourite works of fiction then women and minorities.

Like in the game community, we saw how many people turned on trans people with CD Projekt Red was criticized for the marketing of Cyberpunk 2077, the Wizard game of course and something I always remember, how so many people tried to shame trans people who didn't want to buy Activision Blizzards games after their history of transphobic abuse came out, I remember the thread about on ERA had people quoting journalists like Patricia Hernandez, Jason Schreier and Alanah Pearce to shame trans people not wanting to buy from that company.

I say this because I'd kind of dreading now the release of GTA6 because given how I'm seeing today people justifying,, downplaying and even mock the series misogyny and sexist treatment of women (because because of hype for the game and to annoy chuds upset about sex (which like I said in the Gamergate 2.0 thread, I don't believe many of the people supporting and defending the sex in GTA6 trailer would be if it didn't include leering shots of Lucia Caminos arse or if she wasn't conveniently attractive (see the freakout and anger against Abby's sex scene in The Last of Us Part 2), or if the sex scene was instead a non-exploitative same-sex scene between two men or two women), like seriously why is the idea of killing prostitutes now considered funny?). I'm really dreading that.

I was like this with virtually every ska band in existence during my ska phase in my teens/twenties. I got to basically all of them after they had already broken up or were in the process of breaking up.

I don't really listen to the genre all that much anymore but it was very funny to be late to the party on every single band in existence except like...Suburban Legends and the Mad Caddies.

I can picture it now:

Came to the thread after watching the GTA6 trailer, because Jesus. Lucia was so sexualized after how she was portrayed in the first trailer that I got whiplash. Add on the fact that most of the women were shown lusting after the male main character and it becomes very obvious what this trailer was aiming for. I bet people are already defending it with "Well, Jason is shirtless in a part of it so it's equal!"

I think I counted at least 5 shots where the camera was focused on her ass. Not that I'm particularly surprised or anything, but it was very noticeable with how prevalent it was throughout the trailer.

RE: GTA 6 - Why's that lady fighting in her underwear on that plane (that whole scenario cracked me up, felt pretty ridiculous even for the tone GTA goes for)? Why are Lucia's pants consistently wedged so far up her butt that she's immediately identifiable even in shots like this?



People are saying the bra lady in the airplane fight isn't Lucia, but she's got the same thing, so everybody's just like this I guess? Brought up shades of Fortnite for me honestly lol. Just in general, the number of women with, like, 99th percentile body proportions in the trailer and media released today is... notable. There are lots of random ripped men as well, but I don't think there's any question whose gaze this thing is built for.

GTA has always been holding up a mirror to the worst of our collective impulses and I'm not here for it. Some friends roped me into GTA5 way back and I hated 90% of it. Sure, we all have shadow selves but why revel in it?
