I honestly have no idea if this goes in here but I needed to post it:
https://www.theguardian.com/money/2025/may/07/woman-wins-30000-compensation-for-being-compared-to-darth-vader wrote:Comparing someone at work to the Star Wars villain Darth Vader is “insulting” and “upsetting”, an employment tribunal has ruled.

A judge concluded that being told you have the same personality type as the infamous sci-fi baddie is a workplace “detriment” – a legal term meaning harm or negative impact experienced by a person.

“Darth Vader is a legendary villain of the Star Wars series, and being aligned with his personality is insulting,” the employment judge Kathryn Ramsden said.

The tribunal’s ruling came in the case of an NHS blood donation worker Lorna Rooke, who has won almost £30,000 after her co-worker took a Star Wars-themed psychological test on her behalf and told colleagues Rooke fell into the Sith Lord’s category.

...

Rooke did not participate as she had to take a personal phone call but when she returned a colleague, Amanda Harber, had filled it out on her behalf and announced that she had the same personality type as Vader – real name Anakin Skywalker.

The supervisor told the tribunal this outcome made her feel unpopular and was one of the reasons for her resignation the following month.

Although the tribunal rejected her claim that the “Darth Vader incident” had prompted her to leave it did find it counted as a “detriment”.

Rooke won her case for detriment after a protected disclosure but lost claims for unfair dismissal, disability discrimination, and failure to make reasonable adjustments. She was awarded £28,989.61 in compensation.

I was once asked in an interview ‘how do I know I’m not hiring Sauron’. I got the job.
Reply
Didn't Sauron nearly pull off complete victory with some absurd plans a few times? Seems like a good underling to have? ???

Say what you will about Sauron, but that fucker could organise.

Do you know anyone else that could keep a bunch of unruly goblins and orcs in order while managing them remotely?

That thread is amazing.

The way the guy comes in waving his dick around about historic Indian third genders and then smoke bombs when she calls him out for using evidence that doesn't even remotely supports his hypothesis.

Then the other guy sinks the boot in by preempting his next three tweets about Pacific Islander third gender people etc.

I like how many people think arguments are about gotchas that they jump to this kind of thing when it's not actually any kind of counterargument:
1. The existence of a third gender doesn't say anything about whether or not people can identify into genders at will absent cultural and social construction, it's a non-sequitur.
2. These examples are almost entirely all males who do not fit masculine stereotypes and being classified into some lesser caste, which is problematic to say the least.
3. Even despite that never are they classified as women and never on their own say so.
4. Other societies, especially ones from 4000 years ago, do not bind our society.
5. The original claim is that trans women led the fight for women's rights, which was mostly around about a century ago, so whatever some culture from millennia ago did with their effeminate males doesn't really speak to this claim in any direction.

It's fascinating because it feels like they start arguing out of pure instinct and not because they even comprehend the original claim. Saying that trans women have always been at the forefront for women rights is an objectively crazy thing to say and would need some crazy evidence. But they don't even understand that, they just see that JK disagrees with that so now they need to fight her about it. And then after probably a desperate Google search for trans suffragettes they make a complete non sequitur argument about some cultures having a third gender thousands of years ago, ignoring that by nature a third gender can hardly fight for women's rights, as it's a third gender, not a woman.

It's all so dumb  lol

Uh, check your privilege shitlord, some men are just better at things than women are, like protesting or being a woman wag

I think their entire argument is "well they lasted for thousands of years and anything lasting that long will have numerous examples of every kind of activity, they fought for women, against women, for men, against men, they ate nothing but meat and they also were strict vegans, they fucked and were celibate, long enough time scale = I win"

They want them dead. From following the reactions, there’s no real charitable reading beyond it. It’s kind of shocking to see that sort of raw bloodlust openly expressed.

There's an American naivete that's hard to shake where you want to believe others have good intentions.
