OP, I think you shouldn't feel any shame or need to conform to a certain standard, really. As venturo put out very well a few posts above me, queer people aren't a monolith. There are queer people out there making art that exists all across the many spectrums and intensities of gender identity and sexuality. Wanting to make or see something sexy doesn't invalidate who you are as a person, though I understand very well how hard it is to wrangle those feelings.

I just have to complain a bit. I get a one day ban for being snarky with a user - which yeah, if they don't want that on the site, completely deserved. The ban happened literally like 30 seconds after I made the comment. Meanwhile I see transphobic dog whistles being left up in the wlw fighting game thread. Like, wtf

The wlw fighting thread is another one about the same subject. There's a rule against objectiving woman, plus the boys club rule.

It confuses me a little bit that a thread about basically the same premise as that is okay. Where's the line?

It's fine to not like the game idea, I hate the idea myself, but they don't need to be transphobic in their criticism. And I'm not talking about the boys club comment. Honestly, that thread was a good eye opener as to how many people are either ignorant of what cancer actually does to people or they do know and they just don't care as long as it's a person they disagree with, which to me, makes me think of how people would weaponize that kind of mentality for literally anyone on this forum that they don't like.

"Person they disagree with" is a weird way to frame someone who enabled genocide.

The tone of this discussion would be very different if cancer happened to Trump. Maybe ask yourself if this is because people really are frivolous about cancer.

For me, the tone would be the same. I don't use or wish cancer as an insult against anyone. It's not a joking matter, it's not something you just casually toss around as part of your narrative against someone. Cancer doesn't care who or what the person did; you can disagree with a person's political stance without even trying to use cancer as some form of divine karmic retribution.

I don't need to ask myself anything in that regard as a caretaker for someone who has three different kinds of it. Not wishing to see people using the disease as a means to find enjoyment out of someone suffering from it does not mean I condone any heinous actions of the person in question, either. It's just a toxic mentality all around.

Edit: I think this forum could be better about taking a serious medical condition like cancer and not allowing people to diminish the life-changing conditions that it brings, not just to the person it's affecting, but the people, friends, and family that surround the victim. Cancer affects not just the person who has it, but it literally spreads its influence to everyone a part of that process, doctors and nurses included. It's not as simple as just one person who is suffering.

Personally went today drive a friend doctor to do a death attestation due to cancer, and it's definitively not a good way to die, based on how the family outside talked about the week's leading to the death, the weight it had on the person and the family that was with them, etc.

Spare me the lecture. Both my parents died of cancer. One of them less than a year ago.

Someone saying "whatever, fuck the genocide enabler" after he gets cancer has nothing to do with my and my family's suffering, and it's frankly idiotic to tie the two things together. I hope Putin and Trump both get cancer, and the nastiest kind possible.

Can we please not drag the arguments from the Cancer thread into here? This thread already is a touchy subject and the more we try to litigate threads in here the more likely the thread gets locked or people get threadbanned. The less voices we have in here the less effective the thread becomes. Especially when there is only a relative handful of us that care enough to post here to begin with and the thread is already very slow compared to where it was when it was created.

I'm getting my house tiled in a few weeks. Then I get a message from my tiler - he's had a serious accident and can't do the job. My immediate reaction: FUCK. Tilers and plumbers are a nightmare to book these days. So I reach out to a friend who recently had her place tiled - turns out her guy's on vacation. I try my cousin, who's also a tiler, but he's fully booked until August. Then I start panicking about having to cancel various furniture deliveries...
Okay fine, I scroll back through my messages and think maybe I should ask my original tiler when he expects to be back in business. Maybe it'll be sooner than August? There is no message from my tiler. I dreamt the whole thing. I even sent him a message asking if he's still good for a few weeks and he replied 👍
I did not, in any way shape or form, need this on a Monday morning.

TLDR: I had a VERY vivid dream (that I can remember in minute detail to this day as if it was a memory) about a best friend of mine from my high-school days that I had not seen or heard from for literally years. It involves me walking up to her house while she sits on the porch swing that we always sat on and then she asks me about my life since we parted ways. We chatted about life in general. My faults. My successes. My hopes. She even asked me if I had managed to conquer my insomnia which I had trouble with since I was 15 which was when I first met her. It was like a ghost showing up and asking me how I was. That very same day that I had the dream I got a call from that exact person because they booted up an old phone and found my number that I have had since forever. In the dream they asked me about my life and how I had been. In the IRL phone call years later they did the same. Not word for word but god damn close. I can remember the dream in detail at a level I can't do with any other dream I have had before.

It low key haunts me on a mental level to this day because I cannot find a way to explain it in a way that makes sense even though I don't believe in supernatural BS. She was there in my dreams and then suddenly was there IRL the same day despite several years of separation. Not only that, but I had not even thought of her at all in recent years. Yet one night....there she was. We still chat on occasion, but I have never told her about the dream.


EDIT: I know I sound like a loon but that is genuine honesty here. From someone that does not believe in any of the shit that I just described. It happened to me and I have no idea how to explain it.

I do think Marathon is the end of Bungie though beyond being a Destiny support studio as it winds down. I think a lot of Sony heads will be absolutely baffled at Bungie's complete lack of development direction compared to all their other studios and have long since realised they were absolutely hoodwinked with the sale.
