Now you may be thinking to you're self "how can a sport save you're life." Well you see I'm only 13 I have servere depression and ADHD I get bullied for literally everything. I was also suicidal too. But one day my I was just looking for something to watch when I saw the race was on. Im thinking "what ever nothing else good is on" so I sit down and watch the full race and it actually made me somewhat forget what's happening. So I start to research nascar. My dad and I will sometimes talk about crazy wreck or stuff but never watch it together. So I go on YouTube and start watching nascar related videos and stuff, so now when ever I watch nascar It always makes me forget the bad stuff in my life. And that same day I started watching nascar, I had sent a prayer to god to give me a sign beacuse I was going to kill my self that night. Now I'm here I'm doing slightly better mentally but at least I'm not suicidal. Thank you god thank you NASCAR.

It's this simply. A huge percentage of humans are sick...the sickness being a lack of any basic empathy.

It makes sense according to their playbook. Punch down on the most vulnerable people, then lather/rise/repeat. And refine on their punching with each round. It's how you get things like health care bans, concentration camps, and clearly spelled out rights removed from certain people at will.

Fewer numbers than cis gay folk, and even our well meaning allies view this kind of thing as like an aesthetic affirmation for us rather than what it actually is: healthcare.

Start at the edges and work your way in until you're casually slaughtering millions of innocents with no pushback from the system.

Cis people have long had very binary views of gender and sexuality, views that gays, bisexuals, and even crossdressers and drag queens were able to "neatly" slot into. The mainstreaming of the trans community has been very effective at breaking these walls down and demonstrating gender and sexuality as the spectrum it is....and it's become violently clear that it's breaking a lot of cis people's brains. Breaking them so bad that they're straight-up willing to run back to 1950s hyper-conservative gender/sexuality norms just to undo it.

You know how HP Lovecraft was such a massive racist (even for his time) that he was able to craft legendary figures of eldritch horrors essentially out of his own paranoia over like interracial couples and shit? For too many cis people the gender/sexuality spectrum is proving to be their Color out of Space, this alien thing they cannot begin to understand and thus scream in terror of it. So it's been extremely easy for the right to co-opt this confusion and stoke the flames into a full-on moral panic. After all, one of the biggest influences on anti-trans rhetoric has been JK Rowling, a Blairite liberal feminist. The right really didn't have to work that hard.

The worst part is the small number of trans people involved enhances the feelings, not diminishes them. Y'know the phrase "one death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic?" I get the feeling it works the other way, that people would paradoxically be less willing to care if there were more trans cases out there, enough to make it come off less like random anomalies, but because these cases are such anomalies that can be qualified with names and faces people find it more desirable to squash them unseen vs. just letting them be. It's really fucked.

Well, I'm certainly not going to stop challenging the binary. We know a family that is raising a trans daughter and are super supportive of her with the exception of puberty blockers mainly because of what they hear and have been told by the detransition community.

Did they look past that in the end? Otherwise it's super supportive with a major caveat of forcing her through the distress of the wrong puberty, resulting in an increased likelihood of lifelong body issues and the potential need for [additional] major surgeries and painful hair removal processes later.

I'm luckily spared because I can join my girlfriend's insurance but my brother (who is a trans man) is not so lucky and is going to have to cancel his top surgery, and it's even so insidious that it makes money in HRA accounts unable to be used for anything trans related, meaning the thousands of dollars he saved for this surgery are now basically useless. It's pretty fucked in like a deep way and a lot of people are going to probably kill themselves from having their hormones taken away, if I'm off my own HRT medications for literally a day I start getting severe and intense gender dysphoria to the point where I get so much brain fog and lose the ability to do almost anything, I have no idea how I would go on if I had to live like that indefinitely
