Nepenthe is conflating the criticism of the proposed solution with a criticism of the initial act.  The jokes themselves don't cause a housing crisis you dumb cunt.

It's as I say- people prioritize optics over material reality. Let's go to the example of someone being made fun of for something like baldness but not having a support system to deal with it. What is actually the bigger, more pressing issue- the baldness jokes, or the fact that there are human beings that lack support systems which, as social animals,? Why is anyone in a position where they don't have a social system to lean onto in times of need? What are the economic, social, and political reasons for why that is so we can solve it? This is an actual adult conversation being had here with these questions. Not "If you make fun of someone for being bald, you're the same as homophobes."

No one, literally fucking no one-- Zero posters are making a direct equivalence in terms of systemic oppression.  They're being typical progressives that argue the typical point: that upholding any form of body-shaming is unhelpful or hypocritical in a progressive context.  That's it.   Nepenthe's position is so obviously hypocritical and antithetical to progressive thought that she starts refuting an extreme version of the argument that isn't being made.

Okay.  You described an in-group, shared cultural phenomenon in some communities where the context is crucial. Roasting people with shared understanding, context, and affection.  Which is why you flipped your shit at the Jada Smith bald thing and thought it was an affront to all black people - because your in-group was attacked, not because roasting people for being bald is ok.  This is different from general insults being used to hurt people when applied broadly, which progressives are generally against.  Is this fucking rocket science to her?

It's just overall poor analysis because of the lack of acknowledgement of context necessary to make these arguments with the vigor and ironic veil of shaming they're being made with. Like, if some white guy is being actively racist towards me I might call him a "sun-dodging alabaster motherfucker." Does this mean he has come to truly experience what racism is like because I targeted his skin color, that there has been equivalent harm imparted within this conversation because we both are targeting inherent features of the other person? No! Of course not! Because this hypothetical exchange still isn't taking place in a vacuum, so why are we suddenly acting like it is here?

Who the fuck said a man hearing a "small dick joke" is experiencing oppression on par with racism?  When was this argument made?  Who said this?  Who made any point other than a harm that is personal and relates to self-worth based on a physical attribute can come from insults.  The end.  Nobody made a claim of systemic oppression.  What Nepenthe is doing isn't a counter to any of the specific concerns about the normalization of certain body-shaming jokes.  This is the essential "Dismissing concerns" infraction, and an admin makes it and she won't acknowledge it.  She never admits to being wrong.

The point of these jokes is to emasculate. To tie a man's worth to his sexual organ, prowess, capability, and desirability, and to declare him lacking. You might not have thought about how some trans men (especially those who have not had bottom surgery) could be hurt by the implication that their manhood is reliant on their dick. You might not have thought about how it feels for asexuals to constantly hear supposed allies denigrate people for being virgins. And when you make bald jokes about men, you're hurting women with hair loss even more than the men you intended to insult, considering how much more frequently we tie hair to femininity than masculinity in our culture. Not to mention how tying people's self-esteem to their ability to get sex is a non-insignificant contributor to our society's rape culture.

Everyone is victims within the patriarchy. And anyone can be a perpetrator of it, including women and queer individuals. I know it might feel good to hit a bigot where it hurts, but if your words have a net negative effect on the progress you wanna see in the world, is it worth it?

I don't have to agree with someone to respect that they have a clear, consistent moral framework that they're drawing from to understand the world - like this person.  It's not at all how I see the world, but at least you can have a productive conversation with someone like this.  Nepenthe's ethics of "WHATEVER BENEFITS MY RACE ABOVE ALL ELSE" is playing dress up with logical arguments that constantly contradict themselves.  She should just be honest and say, "Black people take precedence over everything and I allow them their own standards because I care about them above all other groups".  Then be done with it.  Allow yourself to acknowledge you're in the pile with the rest of the trailer-park racist retards now that don't see people as unique individuals, and we can move on.
