That cat has FIP.  Even with the drugs the survival rate is 80% and it's costs 2-4 grand for a full treatment because you have to black market order it from Europe.  Our kitten got on a university drug testing list so the drugs were free.  But even after that she was too sickly to survive Colorado wilderness. 
It felt bad, of course, but also my parents weren't about to spend $2,000 on the hope medication would work.  Blake Snyder would understand that if you are saving to move and this is one instance where you can't Save The Cat.

The elements of cringe are on full display.
