Just to give a bit of a counter narrative to the general positions in this thread:

This isn't some totally unjust action by Israel. It's clearly highly targeted to military, and specifically nuclear, targets, and the Iranian regime has throughout its recent history have been genocidal in its language against Israel.

So why now? Bibi is obviously a warmonger, but it's worth noting that Iran seems to have ratcheted up it's push for nukes. The UN nuclear watchdog very publicly criticised Iran for this. The UN and Israel are not friends, so this is likely not some propaganda but a genuine escalation from Iran.

Iran seems to know it won't be able to beat Israel by conventional means and its proxy armies have been severely battered in the last year, so nukes are looking increasingly tempting to them. Israel is perhaps legitimately acting in existential self defence here.
