Just asking you guys for some luck to come my way because I got terminated from a job last Friday. I am currently waiting to hear back from another employer to see if I get an offer and tomorrow is likely the day of that news.

I don't want to spare too many details, but essentially, tomorrows direction likely decides the direction of my life in general so... it's kinda big. It's not just about the potential job, it's more than that.

Edit for a little more context:
Why was I fired? Absolutely BS reasons. I was working there for only 2 months and was repeatedly told that they love the way I've been training and glad that I've been picking up on things as well as I did.

But I've been trying to leave because it is the most toxic work environment I've ever been around. The most openly racist, sexist, homophobic and crass team I have ever been apart of. If you can imagine it, IT HAPPENED. Believe me. I heard and saw things I've never seen before in a professional work environment.

I once had to take a week off because I had covid. That's all the time I ever took off. It was unpaid as I had no PTO as well, so it sucked. I'm sure that was a contributor to their ire even though I was following company policy.

But since I needed to interview elsewhere, I took half a day off when I had no PTO and even offered to come into work asap. Boss was very angry about that. I claimed I had a family emergency I could not abandon. Next day I come in, they fired me.

So here I am, waiting to hear back from the other employer as to whether I got the job. I actually have a history of over 5 years of working at that employer and have a good reputation so my chances are good at landing the job and landing on my feet BUT, anything could happen and if they don't hire me, I'm really out here on my own in the rat race.

I'm removing your bolds solely for this.  Why stay for two months when you witnessed this?

I was incredibly ignorant and grew up in a culture where we simply didn't learn what Zionism was, and we weren't taught anything about the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

My former marriage was already clearly ending for unrelated reasons as my ex-wife and I both were working on our mental health and realizing that our love and trust for each other was fading. I won't get into pointing fingers at their issues and what they did suffice to say I did the right thing and lawyered up when they asked for a separation and threatened my life. All of that happened in the weeks before and after the Oct 7 attacks, and while meeting with their family to attend a double Bat Mitzvah on Oct 13, I began to hear the people I consider family make statements I'd never heard before. I learned a lot about their beliefs through Passovers and other family events where I heard messages that I felt were timely, peaceful, and loving. Suddenly there was anger and hatred for all Arab nations that I didn't know any of them believed in.

Because I felt ignorant and because I didn't understand where this anger was coming from, I did some basic research and began to learn about the history of Palestine. I then attended my first protest at the March for Gaza in DC where I learned more about the revisionist history I was taught. It's been a long road for me with therapy to unpack and unlearn things I was taught as a child in terms of toxic masculinity, toxic religion (I spent my childhood in a protestant cult), and the revisionist history which grants me the privilege that I have. Call it indoctrination if you wish, but I have always been anti-war and anti-violence, simply because of violence I had witnessed in my own life in the form of surviving a school shooting and witnessing gun violence occur near my home that turned into protests and riots and more violent acts. After educating myself I believed and still believe that apartheid, war, genocide, and famine should end, as these are all terrible man made acts that can stop tomorrow if we so choose. Perhaps that's naive, but it's just how much I hate violence.

Because of this, my ex-wife refused to continue communicating and completing our separation and has held our assets hostage for over a year and a half. I successfully moved out, and I'm happy living on a much smaller budget, but she relies on dividends and gifts from her family to pay her bills. I wasn't allowed to leave the property with almost anything except the few items I owned prior to our marriage, and the backup and emergency funds I have have almost depleted and I've had to take on major debt to survive, as my legal fees have now ballooned from the average $1-5k cost to just shy of $55k. I've had no choice in this matter as I've simply done my part to present the few simple matters of splitting our home and car to the court, and then move on, but I'm not being allowed to do that.

It's at the point now where I've begun to cash out and clear the small amount of retirement savings I had to retain my lawyer, and due to demands for information from my employer to prove my income and the time I've had to spend to continue working on these matters every day after my work is over, my employer has decided to transfer me into a position I cannot perform as it would require me to move and I'm now searching for a job and finding out how to pay a lawyer so I can be safe again.

Thanks for letting me scream into the void a bit. I have no regrets about anything I've said or done. I believe in making the world a better place for all humanity, and I think that comes with the responsibility and burden of the knowledge I have regarding my own privilege and what I can do to make sure the people in my community aren't attacked for the color of their skin. I don't think I'm a perfect person, but I do think I'm trying to build the world I believe in, and I have no regrets for standing up to make sure the voices and stories of Palestine are not lost to those who would write our history books.
