I was talking to my wife the other day about how I realized I’ve never truly gotten what I want out of friendships or relations with my family members. There’s so many reasons for that but I never fully felt it until recently. I’ve always been the person who adjusts to others and listens more than I speak.

My family isn’t conversational in any way. No deep talks or anything like that. All very surface level. My friends all live extremely repetitive lives and never want to try anything new with me. I have bought them games, loaned books and tried to help them get into things that I’m into when they express interest. It’s always the same. With games specifically they bounce off them because they aren’t “good enough” right away so they go back to Apex. Rinse repeat. And quite honestly, they say and do some embarrassing shit that I just don’t condone. I can’t count how many times I’ve had a conversation with them and I slowly realize that they are not understanding or capable of understanding my point or feelings.

This is definitely the weird guy that every friend group has...the one that no one takes responsibility for bringing into the group, the one that everyone tries to avoid being in one-on-one situations with and the one that causes dramas when you try to organise any sort of event.

Why do white men have to be the main employees sent out to talk about their games and get extended previews? Why are white men brought out and still remain as the prominent figureheads for the bigger games?

Yes, a real shame that Sam Lake who has been with Remedy since the earliest days or Ed Boon, who literally created Mortal Kombat, were the ones on stage presenting their games.

Some token representation would really have gone a long way to showing how progressive the game about ripping your enemy's spine from their body has become.

Hi everyone, I don't post in this thread usually, but with yesterday's Summer Game Fest I thought I'll visit.
I'm not the most active poster when compared to many others, but I visit Era every day, at least a few times, and it's still my favorite way to get gaming news and other information about games.
But now some things that have been on my mind lately, but keep in mind they may be entirely subjective:
Is the site's userbase getting smaller? There's still heavy traffic in many threads, but there's a few things I can't help but notice in the last few weeks or months.
There's plenty of threads missing that would have happened 2 or so years ago.

- Like some kind of Summer gaming events summary thread, with dates, or literally summaries of announcements, or even the spoiler-free conference threads where only the shows were linked (remember those?).

- "New news new thread" seems to slowly go away too, often things like new info for that would warrant a new thread disappear in the ongoing threads about that game.

- Also OTs seem to be less and less frequent, not even every big release gets one, let alone smaller games that might as well not exist.

As I said, these observations are highly subjective, and it may just be a me thing. And yes, "You could make those threads yourself" and all that, but I'm just observing here Maybe other experience it very differently. Just wanted to put it our there because I care about the site.

who would have thought that moderation causing exoduses of group after group, let alone "regular" folks just silently leaving, would cause the site to seem less active?
