https://www.axios.com/2025/07/07/democrats-trump-resistance-violence-congress wrote:For months, Democratic lawmakers have fumed that their base's demands to "fight harder" misunderstand the lack of legislative and investigative power afforded to the minority party in Congress.

"We've got people who are desperately wanting us to do something ... no matter what we say, they want [more]," said Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Ill.), the chair of the center-left New Democrat Coalition, told Axios.

Liberal voters have angrily accosted Democrats at town halls for — in their view — not doing enough to counter President Trump's agenda.

...

"Some of them have suggested ... what we really need to do is be willing to get shot" when visiting ICE facilities or federal agencies, a third House Democrat told Axios.

"Our own base is telling us that what we're doing is not good enough ... [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public," the lawmaker said.

A fourth House Democrat said constituents have told them "civility isn't working" and to prepare for "violence ... to fight to protect our democracy."

A fifth House Democrat told Axios that "people online have sent me crazy s*** ... told me to storm the White House and stuff like that,"

...

While other Democratic lawmakers said their discussions haven't gone that far, nearly every one who spoke to Axios cited examples of voters' panic and fury fueling demands to adopt brute force tactics.

A sixth House Democrat said that when they try to persuade voters to channel their frustration into a focus on winning back Congress in 2026, "people who are angry don't accept that. They're angry beyond things."

...

Many lawmakers said these voters tend to be white, well-educated and live in upscale suburban or urban neighborhoods.

"What I have seen is a demand that we get ourselves arrested intentionally or allow ourselves to be victims of violence, and ... a lot of times that's coming from economically very secure white people," said an eighth House Democrat.

...

"The expectations aren't just unreal. They're dangerous," the eighth House Democrat said.

A ninth lawmaker told Axios: "I actually said in a meeting, 'When they light a fire, my thought is to grab an extinguisher,'" a ninth House Democrat told Axios.

"And someone at the table said, 'Have you tried gasoline?'"

They still don't get it.

It wasn't elite liberals that was the turning point. It was kids, sports (especially kids' sports), and rapists getting prison-onset dysphoria.

Badass

Trans activists got all their gains in secret by deliberately piggybacking on good stuff like stopping gay conversion therapy. Then people started to notice and go "wtf"

So see, all you need to do is keep complete control of the liberal elite at all times and never lose control of it. Simple as.

Quote:“Fascism is not creative,” said one former government expert in conflict. “There’s only so many ways to do it. That’s why it’s almost cliché to the point where we ask, ‘What are we, Darth Vader? The Empire? The Nazis?’ The comparisons draw ridicule because people who don’t know enough about it don’t realize there aren’t too many ways to do it. So, the tactics to counter them will still work, and there’s way more ways to be creative.”
Wut

Quote:Several conflict experts who spoke to NOTUS said that anti-Trump organizers are keeping an eye on what comes of United Automobile Workers President Shawn Fain’s call for a nationwide general strike in 2028.

One expert who has taken on an advisory role in this effort said that a successful resistance would only push back in response to how hard it’s squeezed.

“A general strike is not something you flip on and off with a switch. The idea here is not to impose maximal disruption for the sake of it. The opposition has to escalate to the extent that the aspiring autocrat escalates,” they said.
I can tell you right now nothing is going to come of it. lol

I have a new client with obsessive compulsive disorder. He constantly lives in the state of panic about how his clothing fit, and that everyone is staring at him. He sometimes stands in front of the mirror for hours, adjusting his clothing as he misses work and ultimately gets fired Over the course of treatment we’ve talked about systems of oppression, the patriarchy, the intersection of race and financial stability. He no longer has debilitating obsessive thoughts.

My client was worried that his colleagues and superiors would unduly scrutinize and critique him. I simply assured him that actually, globe-spanning, centuries-long, invisible systems have been carefully built to do this—and worse—to him and everyone he loves, and that these systems are meticulously curated even today by untouchable, omnipotent and murderous overseers.

He’s doing a lot better!

The resistance to even entertaining the idea of curing deafness is one of these strange things. I know there's a history where deaf people were treated quite crudely in medicine (basically claims that they're mentally disabled) but aren't those days also clearly over? I wonder if there's a similar movement in the blind community. I suspect not though

There are leftwing deaf "activists" against cochlear implants because they're crazy and think it's deaf erasure/genocide. Okay I'm exaggerating with genocide but with he way that word's thrown around now they might be there already.

I believe it's the Trump admin defunding this research?  Another win for Horseshoe Theory.

I have a minor history in "deaf spaces"

some of those people are fucking insane, it was like an early version of the trans movement, glorifying something objectively bad that no one should want, treating it like a special secret club, like a misery loves company thing

literally angry and bitter at hearing people, treating every difficulty in communication like something being done intentionally in order to keep them down or something

yep, parents who want kids who are exactly like them (exactly as deaf as them) because if they can hear that broadens their experience to a wider culture the parents don't get to participate in, leaving a gulf between them, the kid "going where the parents can't follow" from their perspective, and seeing that as a bad thing rather than wanting your child to have a better life than you had the opportunity for

that said, I feel like this is a misinterpretation of what went on here, it sounds like curing deafness got caught up in anti-DEI backlash, not a leftist thing that it's bad to destroy deaf culture, but like conservatives seeing it as the "E" of DEI and shutting it down the same way you'd shut down studies about transness
