Also Villeneuve, Dune Part 1, Dune Part 2, BladeRunner 2049
Not to mention LORD OF THE RINGS.
tl;dr I’m lazy and never read through the literature for every appliance. Because it’s Japan and they give you binders with several hundreds of pages.
The toilet came with some soap to integrate with the ass wash bidet. Never learned how to install it and so I’m checking the booklet. This toilet has a phone app. Unironically, it’s boasting features like stool collection mode. There’s a calendar to track how often you poop. You can remotely check if people are using the toilet. Like, there’s a comic showing a mother making sure her son is peeing on the toilet.

Got my answer
https://www.designwhine.com/apple-vision-pro-discontinued
Discontinued in late 2024.
Quote:Apple’s initial projections were ambitious to the point of delusion. The company expected to sell a million Vision Pro units in year one, later scaling back expectations to 500,000 units as reality set in. They sold fewer than 370,000 worldwide by the time production ceased.
The manufacturing story tells an even more sobering tale. Production peaked at 2,000 units daily in early 2024 before dropping to 1,000 units per day by summer. Luxshare Precision, Apple’s primary assembler, received shutdown orders by November 2024. Component suppliers had already produced enough parts for between 500,000 to 600,000 headsets by October, leaving massive inventory overhangs that would take years to clear at current demand levels.
But the real story isn’t in the sales figures. It’s in the return rates and usage patterns that emerged after Apple Vision Pro discontinued production. Return rates during the 14-day window reportedly exceeded 25%, an unprecedented figure for Apple hardware. Even more telling, users who kept their devices showed rapidly declining engagement over time.
Anyone with half a brain could have (and did) predicted this disaster.
A solution for a problem that doesn't exist. They ended up being a way to make a simple task uncomfortable and inconvenient.
Quote:For designers and technologists, the lesson is clear: advanced technology must serve genuine human needs, not just showcase engineering capabilities. The next generation of mixed reality devices needs to solve real problems rather than create artificial ones.
What real problems is it going to solve? Is anyone genuinely struggling to be productive on a traditional screen with a keyboard and mouse setup?

It was all swept under the rug including the METAVERSE and NFTs.
And before anyone caught on just how much money was lost Mr. and AI came onto the scene.
I think only Square Enix openly wrote off like a couple hundred million $$$ but every other publisher was in way deeper.
facebook is still somehow supporting horizon worlds, I believe
they've got to have less than 50k daily users now...there's zero discussion of it anywhere
For the few weeks I had a Quest, they were pushing all that shit heavily. Social network VR space. The idea of spending any time in VR/AR outside of limited sessions of gaming is hellish. The ideal version of it would be pretty lame and we're way off from that.
i played beat saber and hl alyx, thats all there is to do in vr
I assume the mainstream media can't ask the real question: is the porn industry making money off VR porn? Or does their VR stuff do poorly too?
I honestly don't know if any of the companies like Brazzers still make it or not.
More importantly why am I having trouble finding any of the awkward videos from the games journalists going to the VR Porn booth at E3 from like a decade ago.

During the COVID lockdowns it was great
But the setup is always quite cumbersome and I haven't bothered to even finish HL Alyx.
Then the eco system shenanigans made everything worse too. This or that didn't run on Rift S but would on the Quest.
Steam VR actually worked better than Facebook's own shit but that had the usual Linux tinkerers caveats.
Any IRL stuff though, the scale and angles usually all messed up. I found that to be the case with most "AR" type content.

This was a great option as downloading extra ram over the internet was not feasible for most due to slow dial up speed.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SoftRAM wrote:Syncronys filed for bankruptcy in July 1998 with $4.5 million of debt after releasing a dozen other poorly received tools.[5][14] The company's final release, UpgradeAID 98, claimed to allow users to downgrade from Windows 98 to Windows 95, duplicating an existing feature of Windows 98 for $39.95 (equivalent to $77 in 2025 dollars).[15] A large number of its creditors were customers who had not received their rebates for SoftRAM.[13]
Syncronys replaced its board and leadership and operated under Chapter 7 bankruptcy until 2002. In 2006, the SEC revoked its securities and placed Syncronys in default for failing to file any financial reports since their 1998 Chapter 11 bankruptcy event.[16] Microsoft couldn't let them threaten the genocide profits.

Honestly, Apple apologists have to be some of the thickest fuckers around.
You gotta appreciate the grift they've pulled on these retards...selling them terrible operating systems, garbage headsets, overpriced headphones...and US$149 phone socks.
Apple fans are the easiest marks in the world.

My all time favorite Raymond Chen story was back from Windows 2000, late in the product cycle. On NTDEV alias, a tester raised an issue that the calendar failed if you set it to December 31st, 2999 11:59pm and let it roll over. Raymond jumped in and tried to politely explain that if there was computer that was still functional and capable of running Windows 2000, and they chose to actually run Windows 2000, they could open a service request.

First Blood is a fantastic film.
Part 2 is when things went full America, Hell Yeah!
and then because a prediction market has no quality control or requirements beyond fulfilling the bare statement, the person films themselves delivering the kiwis to prove it, then just picks them back up and takes them, since receiving and eating the kiwis was not part of it
A lot of the replies seem ignorant of that Sega was essentially bankrupt.
