It is not the judge's job to side with or against women, regardless of the gender of the judge. It is the judge's job to look at the evidence and the cases presented by the prosecution and defense, and decide whether reasonable doubt exists.

That was the first thing I thought when I read the judgement: "she judged with what she had". And that made her side with the status quo.
