I know this because you've already been reported for "Just saying: the judge is a woman as well..." which is frankly an extremely poor thing to say in a thread like this without making sure ydu are fully articulating your thoughts. That can be read the same as "a woman judged then not guilty of SA so it has to be okay", right? Fortunately you replied to a person who responded negatively before we huddled over the flagged post or it would've been pretty easy to ban on that read.

Don't take this as a call out to discourage you from posting, I'm trying to save yourself and others from needless pain in the future when you had no ill intentions. Too many people get reported then banned for short drive bys in sensitive threads like this, then explain what they really meant in a ban appeal ticket after the fact, when it was avoidable if they put the fleshed-out thoughts from the tickets on the forum instead.

I do want to take this moment to point this out: one of the most common reasons people get reported and then banned is for dropping 5 word posts that don't sound great in threads about serious issues. What generally winds up happening is we talk it over and they either expand later on, so we reject the report, or they don't and we ban. At which point we get a ticket explaining what they meant and we wind up unbanning them.

The easiest way to avoid getting banned remains to just say what you mean, type it all out and don't expect anyone to read your mind, to treat Era like an internet forum instead of like it's Twitter or Bluesky. If more people did that, way less people would wind up getting banned.

Sounds like a new cop talking point has dropped.

One of the underlying thesis arguments of the whole Abundance agenda is that "the groups" are becoming a hindrance to winning and getting stuff done. which is defined by them as social and environmental justice NGO's, which force these well meaning centrists into radical positions that are unpopular or handicapping like trans rights or demanding projects use pesky things like union labor.

Sure, you are right, this is not all centrists/liberals, but unlike your interesting choice of a logical comparison, it is a intentional and well represented view within that wing of the party to distance and soften themselves on this issue.

Ah I see. If the public was racist would you just throw up your hands and say, "nothing anyone can do, just have to accept it". To me a good politician has principles they fight for no matter how unpopular they may be. The opportunity Labour had after over a decade of awful Tory austerity has been completely squandered by this ineffectual genocide loving transphobe known as Keir Starmer. I have no idea why you're madder at the possibility of Corbyn than you are about that.

...and that is why you will never engage with real world politics in any meaningful way and will continue to act betrayed and bewildered that your elected officials don't stamp their feet and throw a tantrum like spoilt children when they don't get everything their own way.

To me a good politician is someone who will draft, debate, evaluate and implement legislature that benefits society as a whole.
If they do have guiding principles, they will accept incremental progress towards those goals is still progress, and will also change those principles if compelling arguments or evidence is provided as to why that priciniple could in fact be wrong.

My idea of a good politician is someone voting on bills and amendments and trying to get more through than they get blocked.
Yours is refusing to engage because the fucking sellout amoral shitbags who agreed with you on every single agenda point you raised wrote the minutes in 11pt Calibri when you wanted 12 pt Roboto, the absolute shower of cunts, fuck them to death and let the world burn
I think it's just as important to point out that all of the "trans rights" in the UK were won without any kind of political campaign on its behalf. Labour and the Tories implemented all that without ever winning an election on the issue or even there being a debate about it. This stuff just pushed up through the bureaucracy or Cabinet into existence. Self-ID, prosecuting people for misgendering, everything the Cass Report talked about, when was there ever any kind of debate, even Parliamentary, on this stuff? There wasn't!

In other words, shut the fuck up and then do it once you win seems to be a far better strategy. Since they used the racism example, I'd note that LBJ probably only got away with passing all that stuff (Civil Rights Act of 64, Voting Rights Act) in the US because it wasn't a campaign issue. The Democrats were the party with the chunk of the base against that, but in Congress he could take the GOP + the other half of the Democrats and pass that while sidelining the southern Democrats. Something he couldn't have done if he was out of office. Or how about another thing they're upset about, where the Evangelicals and other pro-lifers looked the other way about Trump because his winning mean they got the Justices that overturned Roe. If they had picked any of the infinite reasons not to support Trump and he lost, Hillary would have made the Supreme Court majority.

They're pretty much fundamentally opposed to central concepts of democracy like compromise and not getting only what you want while everyone else obeys. Zero conception that coalition building means you're constantly watering down positions and not bringing up others to bring together a large enough group to obtain power and then having endless transactions within it. They think you just have some ultimate battle forever with evil and then immediately do everything you want and everyone just agrees forever. In other words, their concept of democracy is like Stalin's: one man, one vote, one time.

The comic plus its spin-offs is 150+ issues. The show is almost to the halfway mark. I can see why Kirkman thinks it could go longer than matching the timeline because the latter part of the comic does a bunch of skips and rushes through stuff he'd probably like to redo.

See above where I talked about their fundamentally not accepting certain aspects of democracy. This is a common one you see especially in people like Nepenthe but all over that forum. The belief that a "coalition" that is nothing but various groups pursuing their agenda to the maximum will not lead to breaking up the coalition because some kind of solidarity is possible rather than that these groups have fundamentally opposed positions.

The trans stuff is a perfect example because it inherently demands women accede to males in not only their spaces but their roles. Look at the gender quotas where women are given half of positions and then trans women are allowed to take them. This is a fundamental conflict where both sides cannot win. Only if women accept that men can claim to be women, which instantly means the quotas aren't really creating positions for women. This is why it's mandatory for this view to be accepted by women and more important than everything else in the agenda. If people do not accept that men can be women and vice versa then the "trans rights" plank immediately collapses. And "trans rights" will be ignored because women as a group are half of everyone. Hence, chanting "trans women are women" and demanding everyone obey.

But this isn't the only group, we can find examples everywhere because interest group politics inherently differ from the interests of everyone as a whole or else they wouldn't be interest groups. These guys get that when it comes to Zionists, but pretty much nothing else. Since he mentioned unions, unions are inherently opposed to everyone else. They raise the prices for everyone else, especially when they're public sector unions like police unions who these guys recognize as a problem but can't seek to depower because they have to support unions uber alles even when they thwart other agenda items. "Defund the police!" Oh, you mean, harm and fire union workers? They're so tunnel visioned with their own positions that they can never see all the many angles against their own, which is especially dumb when you're constantly taking positions that maybe only 10% of the population at most support.

Jeff working overtime to factually correct people that have any criticism of his Marvel slop.

Quote:Well, this wasn't middle-of-the-road MCU so I'm not sure that works here.

But no, I am of course amenable to criticism. As I already mentioned, I had a couple issues with the film as well — could have used more time with Ben, not enough stretchy Reed, their initial plan to lure Galactus was pretty dumb (though it led to Sue having a GOAT-level MCU moment, so that balanced it out). But the cast chemistry isn't one of them and it seems to be one of the things most praised about the movie from critics, so that specifically is a criticism I just can't begin to understand.

This movie lives and dies on the terrific chemistry between the cast. The outlandish comic book-ness and silly sci-fi doesn't work without their chemistry.

Jeff's must be upset he has to take time away from posting on X. It's like he's not getting his money's worth paying Musk to get his hidden check mark.

To be honest I'm just jealous. I don't think I've ever loved something as much as Jeffrey loves Marvel Entertainment LLC. I pray for anyone that hooks up with him. I hope he's honest and let's his date know right away they'll always be his second love. We can all picture him sitting upright in bed telling his partner he can't fuck them till he factually corrects some chuds talking shit about his favorite franchise.
