the house I'm typing this from is older than that building and it's worth about the same as two big american cars

She is going to Peru thursday so she can't make it today.

Probably for the best, not keen on weeks of long distance texting to wait for date 2 again.

I have her number, she goes in the leads list.

I don't

To my surprise she came back with some details on when she's back so I've tentatively put something on the calendar at the end of next month.

Voice messages are a good idea post the 1st date. Before the 1st date best to keep comms for logistics only.
The less you say, the smaller the chance they cancel. If I had been texting a lot with this girl or had a video call or whatever I'm pretty sure she would've already called it off.

When she's back she'll have stories to tell, so if she's still interested it saves her the hassle of finding/waiting for new dates.

Overall I think I'm in a good spot with this one, not yet put in the simp/relationship lane but a guy she's excited to meet.
Will that last though, I dunno. I can tell from her texting that she has a certain level of respect for me that a lot of other women on the apps didn't.
Sorry to bother me at work that kind of thing.

Probably asleep now. Let's see if she responds to my opener it's a good one.
I always vibe well with women that work for the airlines, she reminds me of a girl that worked for us a little while during COVID when the planes were grounded.

fwiw I support this change in dating direction but understand at your current fitness level, you’re going to be the catcher.

lmao

Well, I was the catcher today. The dog catcher. Lunch and wfh day at the redhead and we took the dog she's dog sitting for a stroll. Before I knew it a bunch of girls joined us to play with the dog. They all clearly thought we were a couple walking our dog. But it's not our dog and we're not a couple. The dog kept returning the ball to me though, the girls were all like, wow you trained her so well she's only interested in you.  lol

Is she reconsidering? Who knows, she certainly likes me more these days, most women do actually. But the fact that she prefers looking after the dogs of other people from time to time instead of having her own dog kind of tells the whole story.

Fun to hang out, walk the dog, wfh together but also very pedestrian. Would I want this life or would we enjoy it for more than 1 day every 2 weeks or a month, I dunno and I think she had the same feeling. I wanted to talk about it over dinner but she already had other plans, I'll bring it up next time.

Does anyone here drive a Mercedes? (CLA 180 AMG line).

There is a black one for sale in this town. The price is good. It's the 2014 model that looks like a slimmer CLS.

This Mazda 3 is also pretty sweet
[Image: 1920x1080.webp]

Mercedes looks more sophisticated while still a sports sedan.
Mazda 3 is the type of Need for Speed / Fast & Furious car I enjoy but also a bit boys will be boys maybe. Cheaper in  maintenance and more reliable though.

New match too, she's 5"1 I'm 6"1. I'm now at a point where the ones I like respond back.

That Merc is a mum's car dressed in a sports car clothing. Otherwise known as a hairdresser's car.

Yeah I read something about that. The engine is meh but they've done the chip tune.

Anyway, I send the owner a message that I want to check it out. Doesn't hurt to take a looksy. It has the AMG sport package and everything.
I've seen 3 drive today of course and they look pretty cool. The kind of sleek car that pulls up at a network event or a SPECTRE gathering that fits my image. The Mazda is nice but it also feels a bit of a Need for Speed starter car jacked up to 11. Same as my red Mitsubishi Lancer with bodykit.

It's also an in between car until the EVs are better and more AI money rolls in. These are pretty rare and the value is fairly consistent. Tesla is trash build quality, only suitable for leasing really. There is a black Hyundai Ionic in my price range also but it looks a bit boring and the first gen Ionics weren't that good. Another good option is the Audi A3 or BMW 1 series.

Wasn't actively looking for a car but I like the options I'm seeing now and with so many people on summer vacation there's a bunch of good deals to be had.

I'm a Sedan fan, seems like Audi A3 is really the way to go. Reliable, beefy engine. If a bit boring looks wise but still good enough to stand out from the crowd.

CLA is too compromised as a 'cheap' CLS but still as expensive to maintain.

Friend of mine has a Kona it's a nice car.

Bingo.

If you're going to bend over and get fucked in the arse to replace parts, you might as well get a real AMG that actually goes fast.

0-100 in 9 seconds is family car territory these days.

both them and my co-workers because he knows where my office is.

the whole situation is fucking insane though. As he is out there looking for a burger joint, his father is locked in his room of the elderly home. He's not allowed outside in case his son sees him and there is a security detail protecting the building, no one is allowed in or out after 17PM. I managed to use my amateur psychology skills to figure out his game and hopefully I planted an Inception seed in his brain like I did with the house. But I have no doubt, if I had pushed 1 more of his buttons he would've jumped at me. Stabbed me with a glass or whatever for being a traitor. I'm in a strange way glad I discovered his true nature though. For the longest time we had no idea if he was innocent or his girlfriend had set him up, because she isn't a saint but after yesterday I have no doubt he did beat her up.

Prior to that he had apparently contacted someone else too and that person was a fucking idiot and texting him back something like: "Nintex told so and so that you are having trouble with the police blah blah so I don't want anything to do with you until you fix your life". So I invited him to the bar not knowing I was compromised and he already distrusted me.

And that guy also set this episode in motion. I thought it was me because I decided to hang out not knowing how insane he really was. But today I learned that he went to visit that guy who is a divorced father 2 weeks ago, the mother is crazy and he is 100% devoted to his kid. The felon told him that he wanted to bring the "band back together" the friend group of 6 or 7 we had and this guy was basically his best friend. But instead of helping him do that he gave him a scolding that he didn't understand why he didn't care about his kid and that he didn't do anything in his power to get his kid back. He had moved on from drinking and playing videogames and had no interest in meeting up with his old pals. And in his scrambled brain the felon made the connection that we all split up because he didn't fight for his kid hard enough and if he would all his problems would be solved. So he changed his mission from bringing the band back together to fixing the problems that prevented that, which now included not having his kid. And that's why he came to me as the second option to help him out.

I invited him to the bar yesterday because he had told me he just wanted to go back to drinking beers and playing videogames and I wanted to "reward" him for letting the house go and not breaking in not knowing about the twisted underlying connection. As we had our first beer, I told him: "Look, we're already halfway there, we're making progress" and he was smiling as he had played videogames in the afternoon. So he asked where is everyone else and I explained how some got married, others moved etc. . After I talked to a guy next to me about cars because he owned 2 Audi's the felon was just staring in the distance. I thought it was the booze but as I turned back to him he snapped and started this insane fucking rant.

It's kind of sad really he wants to go back to the good old times by removing the people that slowly made his life worse. He thinks if they're gone we will all be back together and the kid is the key to get his best friend back. So I've been slowly drip feeding him what I found out, that the good old days of this boomer town are gone and that we're not in our 20's anymore. But on the flip side we can go anywhere we want now. In that sense I'm happy I picked my life back up after years of nothing but work, funerals, hospitals and anti-biotics this year and reached different more productive conclusions.

And that hits me like a brick as I think about what I assume could have been our last moments as "friends". As I walked him back to his hostel we ran into a New Zealander, he had some great travel stories. Next a cute girl came out, apparently she works the night shift at the bar, Slovenian, just arrived. They both tried to make small talk and he just ignored them, acting like he was above them. And that was it for me really, I shook his hand and left. Thinking that he was such a tremendous asshole I'd rather hang out with the New Zealander or have drinks with the Slovenian and might still, she liked me well enough. Called me a Kingsman because I carried an umbrella.  lol
