I don't know how they do it but I'm hoping it doesn't involve brutal crunch.

It's called having like 2000 people as the size of the development team.

Also they now have a totally unified tech stack and team specifically for that stuff. Most of the old "studios" are basically just content farms at this point, that's why they all work on every game now instead of alternating between the studios. The "game" put out at release date is basically like Madden or 2K at release now, they'd totally drop the campaign if so many people didn't buy it just for that, but the games have always used the same assets across both SP and MP.
