I firmly believe that TPM review ultimately set into motion the decline of modern media criticism. People are so eager to rag on movies/tv shows with nitpicks and shallow critiques of plot with review -- to the point where the review is secondary to making fun of the media -- and I think of a lot of video reviews these days are just trying to chase after the Plinkett reviews. It's really lame.

And I say this as someone who watched the early Plinkett videos and thought they were funny -- but now I don't bother with RLM at all. They suck.

I love it how these people assign blame to media and pop culture for societal ills, real or perceived.

Just want to say seeing Peter Dinklage in the new season of Dexter has been such a treat. I can't wait to see this. My wife and I actually hung out with Lloyd Kaufman for like 30 minutes at Fanexpo in Toronto many years ago when it wasn't such a zoo and you had opportunity to actually chat with the people there. He was so cool asked us to have a seat and everything signed a bunch of stuff just chatted.

I know we shouldn't always be disliking reviewers at first attempt, and we shouldn't be blinded by hype but like...

It is kind of hard to trust IGN seriously when they were rather pushy about Mario and Luigi Brothership being a "disappointing sequel". They were trying to ragebait people. It got me to buy Brothership. And I loved it, wouldn't say 10/10 but was much better than what was claimed.

With that being said, it does feel like a Fromsoft issue, but also, I'm not quite seeing so much slowdown on the video. Maybe I'm just not as clued in as other people. I do hope there will be enough time for optimizations to be made that will make the product better

I was mixed on it, wondering if it was that bad. In retrospect I somewhat disagree with the reviewer, some points were valid such as slow pacing.

The main problem was that they reposted the same post on Twitter multiple times in a short period (over 2 days or so). I remember 3-5 posts of the same topic. I didn't remember them reposting reviews with other games. So I thought they were trying to be annoying by reminding people about the review. It compelled me to move the game up the list of purchase priority.

They repost stuff on social media all the time to maximize traffic. Sounds like you ragebaited yourself into buying a video game?

Wait, really? I mean it in good faith, because I definitely didn't remember them being spammy in the past.

But then again, these days Twitter likes to suppress visibility or traffic, so I wouldn't be surprised. Sigh, it's whatever. Sorry if the initial post was not appropriate. Bad memories and all that, I'll be careful in future.
