Anyone ever driven a Hyundai i20?

As I'm looking at Audi and BMW a black one popped up at my local car dealer. It's not expensive and might be a good stop gap between my Lancer and a future EV. They also have a 1st gen Ionic but not sure if that's worth it.

Not driven that one in particular, but I've driven i30s and i40s and they were decent cars. Nothing too flash, but definitely good cars and would be a great stop gap if your intention is to wait to see on an electric vehicle.

Are hybrid options still around? Audi had a nice one a couple years back. You got maybe 25 miles on full electric. But you still had a full gas tank and engine. A buddy had it because he was paranoid over full electric losing juice on the highway. We’re talking almost ten years ago now.

My Lancer is 17 years old, it stands out but because of that also has more police attention than I would like.

Audi A3 or BMW would set me back 15k - 25k. The i20 is 12k. If I trade in the Lancer which cost me just 5k I can probably get the i20 for 9k or 8k.

I prefer Sedans but the i20 would save me a lot on gas, insurance and taxes. It's very reliable. 2017 i20 Black Edition so replace the rims buy some plastic and interior shit from China and presto.

I'll probably go check it out tommorow. Overall I got lucky with the Lancer but I can’t drive it forever. So I keep driving it until it falls apart and needs expensive repairs or I trade it in while it still has some value.

Anyway tommorow we watch the sunset first at Beachclub 1 then we move to Beachclub 2 to dance and they probably have fireworks too.

I bought a canned item at an international supermarket. The kind that needs a can opener. It’s amazing how the standard safety type with a turn handle isn’t readily available in Japan. Even kitchen specialty stores only sell military/camping types. Asked around and people recommended buying online or going to Kappabashi.

Americans are really living in the future. We even have devices to automatically open cans.

Currently hungover in a stately home atop the moors of England nursing a hangover with sugary Pepsi and Nikki six’s heroin diaries.  Had a sturdy girl give me a vigorous back massage that actually hurt more than helped.

Went to check out the cars. Both the black i20 and 1st gen Ioniq look great in person. Both in a great condition. 

The guy was surprised I cared how quickly they accelerated and all that. Everyone is looking at cost, does it really matter? The Lancer was worthless of course, covering his bases. 

"Every 2 weeks I get new cars, I'll have no trouble selling these" he's not fooling anyone though. These cars are still in the 10k - 20k range. The few other customers that dropped in were looking for way cheaper cars but I don't think people realize those are shipped to Poland in bulk who sell them to Ukraine. Overall he was just waiting for his shift to end. 

It's a shame that the whole market is consolidated though, he agreed with me on that. The Mitsibushi colt is just a Renault Clio with a facelift and certainly not worth the 28k asking price.
That thing has been moved between their 2 locations for about 2 years now. I bet the whole value of their business is just the car loans and value of the inventory (cars returned from lease deals with sticker prices). The whole area is car dealerships, empty customer parking lots. The coffee machines are off. The brochures and ads are 2 years outdated. The EV car tax estimates on the fact sheets are based on 2024 not 2025 tax rates. They aren't moving shit. 

I'll just wait for the yearly check next month and then return with a take it or leave it deal of 10k on the i20 if I don't find any issues during the test drive. 

As of yet tonights date is still on and I'm close to landing one for next week too.
Probably the first time I planned a new date before the current one even happened.

The date started weird but that was actually a win(?), as I stepped outside I realized my keys were still in my other pants. I broke her the news via text and after 5 minutes of trying to open my window I picked her up first. As she watched I quickly opened the main window by pulling the handle with a doormat through the small window. She was so surprised I made that work. I tried to climb inside through the window but my legs are too long so it took a couple of tries. Finally when she pulled the courtain aside I could get my feet through and go inside to grab my keys. I told her that was probably the most weird and exciting date opening ever. 

The date itself was fun, we had cocktails and she loved the sunset taking pictures and everything. Still, her plan from the beginning was to drive back after 2 hours or so so she couldn't drink too much. Good conversations lots of laughs. We sat by the fire which added to the atmosphere. Unfortunately we never got to the dancing part at the 2nd club, next time she said. Interesting choice of words. She approved that I had already taken care of the bill with no fuzz. I could also finally use this new all black Calvin Klein suit on a date and it's a big winner.

When I walked her back to her car I asked if she wanted to see my souvenirs from Canada but she politely declined with her puppy eyes. Hug and kiss close and she left, as she drove off she stopped to wave goodbye with a cute smile. On one hand I would've liked her to stay longer on the other there wasn't a dull or boring moment. So quality over quantity might win out. 

This was a nice classic first date compared to the awful horse girl. We had a couple of great moments and considering the way she looked at me, played with her hair and that last beaming smile I think I left a good impression. Even though between me locking myself out, high heels not being compatible with beach sand and the glasses being filled to the brim so we spilled our drinks all over it was anything but perfect.

I'll text her that I had a good time and that I'm game to go dancing or something. Apart from that I let her do the woman thing. Who knows she might jump the gun sooner. She didn't end it when she got home and she doesn't strike me as the ghosting type like horse girl.

And what if this is something serious, well that means 1 trip to Canada and 2 trips to Asia every year. Ghibli movies, fish food, steak, cocktails and champagne. Lots of sunsets and lots of pictures. A woman that approves of modern tech and video games. It could be worse.

After white girl Asian was always very high on the list. 

She just got a new car a pearl white MG so her preference is obvious.

She probably confused and frustrated a lot of dates with her profile. Sex positivity was more or less not 1960's "no sex before marriage" traditional and showing some skin. "Looking for some fun" meant actual "fun", "exploring" trips and going places. I thought it was weird she was timid and nervous to get out of her car until the ferris wheel came into view and she said my town looked fun and ran off like a school girl to take pictures. 

There is always the risk with the app that she goes looking for something better. But part of me thinks she hopes I didn't turn into a ghost and send her a message. If that's the case it's more commitment than originally planned. No morning break up message so post nut clarity first before I make the call. She wants kids at 39, she goes back to China twice a year, she doesn't want to give up her Chinese passport and I'm not one to break up ever.

edit: got a quick good morning back. she said it was nice but the drive home was difficult

In addition a 17 y/o was murdered last night by a 22 y/o migrant. The propaganda machine is full on blasting "women aren't safe anywhere" and it's now the main election theme so that will make dating very difficult for the coming months or easier because I'm white. We'll have to see.

Had to play tour guide and ended up doing cliche Japan tourist stuff like karaoke with Americans and Japanese groups.

tl;dr every Japanese person who knows a little bit of English really likes John Denver’s Country Roads. They only know and sing the chorus and hum all the other lyrics. 

The top list of songs English speaking tourists choose has Radiohead’s Creep. Patrice O’Neal clocked them.

Did a beachwalk and some drinks after work with the Italian rocket scientist. She was very interesting and adorable if a bit shy. Like me she's really into Villeneuve, Nolan and that kind of thing. We both had a long day though so a bit lower energy than I would like. 

Unfortunately she already unmatched right after the date and I already felt when we parted ways that I would not see her again. She also paid, which also seemed like a signal to cut ties. During the conversation we also spoke in terms of 'that's what you should do/visit' and less in terms of 'we' and 'us'. Apart from great conversation nothing much happened between us which was a bit of a shame. Still she was good company I would've been open to meet her again but alas she called it quits.

A more casual date planned for thursday, single mom that wants to go drink and party. So far I've only talked with her about our drinking habits which is a nice change of pace. With this one I want to bounce to different places. She's less classy and pretty than the other girls I've dated, today's date would be a 7, the Asian was easily an 8. This is more in the 5 - 6 fun range. She's not ugly just a bit plain but she has big milkers so I'm game.

Overall cocktails at the beachclub has a 90% hit rate. I've had 4 of those dates in 2 weeks and if one didn't respond or couldn't go, someone else took their place.
Todays date was planned on the same day even. Never pulled that off before.
