I was going through it to report all of the posts that were.  It's a lot of 'prominent' everyday users too, that absolutely know what they are doing.

Well I reported a bunch of posts. Maybe that will do something idk. I admit I haven''t been reporting as much lately because so many posts that i did report didn't get any response, so it felt like a waste of time like 75% of the time unless the posts were very obviously shitty.

So, this thread has generated a ton of reports. We're gonna temp lock it, go through them, and re-open when we're done.

I don't have the post handy, but I swear B-Dubs is on record saying discussing the sales of the game shouldn't be banned in an explicitly sales-related thread, and most of the bans seem to be people just kind of marveling over its success and not being mad enough about it. But now we've got mods on the forum itself egging posters on to demand bans  and sanctioning brigading threads for mentioning things that they don't like, even if they're not against the rules exactly. This is definitely not going to increase tension and anger everywhere and make moderation even more onerous.

I just registered here because after leaving Twitter I've felt somewhat homeless on the internet. Forums like this used to be how people talked and discussed, but it seems like all of that imploded and I suck at finding new places to frequent (especially since it relies on like... finding hidden discord channels or something. I'm old).

Anyway, one of the places I always lurked was Resetera, but I was never a member. I really didn't feel the need, but also it was clear that even if I did register, I would get banned probably inside of a month. I have never been a fan of places that are obsessed with civility, and I am even less a fan of places that enforce selective civility. Nothing wrong with hearing or giving someone a good old "fuck you" as far as I' m concerned when it's warranted. I used to prefer, in literal decades past, places like 4chan, but that place now is an actual incel Nazi cesspit, and literally incapable of discussing anything. They know their porn though, I'll give them that.

I used to just read the videogame side, but I started going over to the other side as well, since a lot of news broke there. I like aggregations I can skin at a glance. Over the last few years I've gone through a significant political journey however, and learned a lot as I rocketed leftward. And god damn do the Neolibs over there make my blood pressure spike. I probably wouldn't get along with a lot of you either, but unlike people over there, I'm not really upset when someone isn't on my exact point on the left side of the political spectrum. I have pretty extreme views, but I know I'm weird. Let other people be normal.

I'm not sure about this forum yet. I'm seeing some stuff I like, some stuff I disagree with, but that can all be hashed out later as I lurk more and get the vibe. What's important is that I can complain about the stuff I see on RE that pisses me off. In fact, I found this forum searching Google about someone who pissed me off that you guys know well: Hachikoma. I searched this thread and didn't see this RE thread mentioned:

This thread is where I learned about them. In a thread about Youtubers who had right wing leanings and suggestions for good media to watch instead (something I was actually interested in), half the thread devolved into whining over Hasan Piker of all people, quite possibly (to me at least) the best leftist voice to listen to on  Youtube (or Twitch. Whatever, you know what I mean).

Why? Well, he's anti-trans you see. He's anti-trans because he said that boycotting the HP game wouldn't work, and instead what he wanted to do was stream it while having trans people on as guests, and donate all the money from that stream to pro-trans causes. This was an affront to the entire trans community, who told him, as a single unit acting as one monolith according to Hachikoma, that it was a terrible idea and boycotting the game was far more important and effective.
Of course it wasn't, it went on to be one of the best selling games of the year, absolutely nobody gave a single squirting fuck about the boycott and Hasan was 100% right, but he disagreed with the Grand Trans Council, so he's out. Hachikoma deals with... laws? I guess? So she's obivously the best choice for community monolith arbiter.

And she might be right! After all, look at this clip of Hasan screaming at a trans chatter sassing him! What's that? Hasan yelled at that chatter for them trolling him poorly about not being as good on trans issues as Vaush, a stance Hachikoma agreed with by the way, didn't know the chatter was trans, and that chatter also sent Hasan a gift afterward and made up? Irrelevant. He yelled once you see. After all, Hachikoma knew the chatter was trans by the way they constructed their sentence:

i assumed the banned person was trans purely based on the message the streamer banned them for - i've never seen a cis person stick up for us with gentle confidence like that.

(The "gentle confidence" was, again, that chatter joking that Vaush was better on trans issues).

What's that? Hasan has one of the largest trans viewerships on Twitch, and every single bit of footage I've seen over the last 6 months has him being incredibly pro trans? I'm sorry, you say that youtube comments on his videos have tons of trans people saying "Thank you for your stance on this, it means a lot?". That pretty much a perfect description of ERA at the moment. The place is little more that a hangout for terminally online trans people and other mental cases. ResetERA is their unhealthy outlet for whatever troubling them in their life. What will people like PlanetSmasher, Kyuuji, ClickyCal, Melody, and others of that ilk will do if ERA shuts down tomorrow? They use ERA as some mental health outlet. Meanwhile, 99% of the user-base have to constantly wade through minefields these nutcases create on a near daily basis.
