Hope I amused some of you on this Friday. Both the people more on board with my thoughts, and those who think I'm just the biggest bozo around.

Anyone out there who's read my posts and actually somewhat understands the points I've tried to articulate and finds them at least semi-agreeable, thanks.

I could write (much) more specifically about just why it is I'll never touch Valve's MP games with a 10 foot pole, but that's not this topic + I'm not just trying to rile people up. But I do legitimately think very negatively about modern Valve, Steam, and their general game design. And I do think it is a semi-related conversation tangential to this one.

But all this stuff is topic of conversation better served for actually -talking- with other good faith, high quality people instead of trying to make my points through text to faceless internet strangers (tho again this just all doubles back to the whole entire point I've been making, that this just is another reflection).

Does he mean Dota 2 and yet to be released third-person-shooter Dota? Those are the only two Valve MP games in the last 13 years. TF2 was 18 years ago, there hasn't been a new L4D in 16 years, the only other games in the last two decades have been engine updates of CS.

I suspect he mentioned this because someone probably pointed out there being classes with specific playstyles instead of weapons laying on the map is also Team Fortress 2.

To any DF members that view this forum on a semi-regular basis, a sincere plea:

It's been disappointing, now more than ever, to see this game be propped up in your content, whether in quick asides for the sake of comparisons, or the two dedicated videos as above. I truly don't believe any of you are bad people, or necessarily even acting in bad faith, even after doing this, which is why I even bothered to make this post.

Now that y'all are a fully independent production, I had hoped that you would move away from featuring this game, whose series creator and revenue source/destination J.K. Rowling has expressed that material support of any Harry Potter media specifically means that you support her, her hateful, bigoted views and fuels her endless tirade of hatred, harassment, bigotry and least of all blatant criminal actions that put the wider trans community, not just in the UK in harms way and have been both directly and indirectly the cause of trans harm, self-harm, suicide and sexual harassment. Enough is fucking enough.

Now that you are an independent outlet, and are thus more responsible than ever to hold yourself to as high a journalistic and moral standard as possible, I'd like to use this post to make an impassioned plea to please stop featuring Hogwarts Legacy or any adjacent works related to J.K. Rowling in your content.

I'm sure this post will be clowned on and eventually get locked out of some necessity, but I'd kick myself if I didn't at least try to put something out there, given that many DF members read this place.

Two things I love, first, that they don't at all address why Digital Foundry uses Hogwart's, that it's a major title on every platform. PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, Switch 2. The number of titles that are major releases like this and are on all seven platforms isn't that huge. Hitman is basically the only other game that's on all seven. Cyberpunk 2077 isn't on the first Switch and is terrible on PS4/XBO to where the other versions are different games. Outlaws isn't on Switch, PS4 or XBO.
