Hope Melody is okay. If they deleted Discord and kept off social media I think they would become a lot better. The constant self deprecation and doom cult mentality isn't helping at all and those are their sources of it.

Looking at their kofi account it looks like their little "I'm going to kill myself" stunt got them some donations and they instantly reactivated their BSky profile.  Money

Meh, that will only do so much. Only one way out of depression: becoming useful and providing value for other people. Doesn't necessarily mean your day job, although it often is.  But find a purpose that serves others and look beyond yourself so your life isn’t consumed by an inward loop of obsessive identification with thoughts, your gender, emotions, and the pursuit of fleeting short term pleasures and impulses to distract, numb, and avoid bad feelings. When you’re focused on others, fixation on your inner experience becomes impossible.  Melody somehow built an extraordinary life: a 40-year old adult who, at no point during the day is beneficial whatsoever to any person on earth, ever.  That's a completely agonizing thing to realize.   “Feeling” bad doesn’t matter, but Melody and his ilk treat it like a verdict on reality. They believe their emotional state is the result of how other people treat them, so the only way to manage their emotions is by controlling others. In reality, nobody can harm you with words, and you choose how to react. You always have that control.  They build a life story around their pain and identify with it and it becomes important to who they are...when it’s really just a fleeting feeling arising from a fleeting thought that appears in consciousness as quickly as it disappears.  It means nothing.  Knowing that your choices matter and that you are free to choose to act in ways that are valuable to others despite your flaws, immutable characteristics, and unchangeable life circumstances is essential for mental health.  It means you can choose to matter to other people despite who you are and your imperfections. If you don’t believe that, you fixate on everything you’re not and start to hate yourself because you're not free to matter.  Melody needs to come to terms with the reality of how they’re living by accepting that they provide no benefit to anyone else, working through the pain of that belief by accepting that it will feel bad but it doesn't matter that it feels bad, and taking concrete steps to contribute so they can embrace their freedom. You can't have a healthy well-being without believing your choices and actions matter; that you lack the freedom to make tangible differences in other peoples' lives.

You need a purpose that centers on others, and if you have to see a doctor and get meds or therapy to reach that point, then do it. If not, you’ll stay stuck in the same hole, manipulating people with guilt-tripping mental breakdowns and fishing for “I love yous” and “you’re valids” on Bluesky to cope with the fact that you’re living wrong and not benefiting others.  Manipulating people into telling you that you do matter and that you’re useful when you know deep-down that you're not actually doing anything is why Melody always writes all this self-hating shit about how horrible they are - it serves two purposes: it gets people to tell him he does matter as a way to cope, but it's also the actual one truth that he is aware of that he needs to actually verbalize for the sake of his sanity.

Borderlands, BF6, Silent Hill F, Yotei, FF Tactics, Outer Worlds 2, Vampire Bloodlines. It's going to be a tough couple of months for ole Shreds. He might have to pretend to do something drastic.

There's no easy cure for someone who's truly depressed. It's a sickness that messes with your brain. I know someone who turned 70. 3 kids, grandchildren and he had multiple jobs. Never was able to fully overcome depression.

Melody however by looking at the posts on blusky is a; self diagnosed. More important B; Melody seems like a great example of the "I tried nothing and still failed" meme. Jerking of on anime characters all day is no therapy.

Melody also thinks in extreme forms of black & white. In the real world it's not possible to only have friends and family who share the exact same beliefs.

Melody is also a hypocrite.
You have to accept Melody for who Melody is. Completely. Melody on the other hand has a phone book of people she hates. It doesn't work like that. In the real world it's give and take

The "easy" cure for depression and anxiety is that you have to realize your thinking is disordered, that you believe delusional things and that you're wrong. Shreds and Violet and many of these guys (or girls like Nepenthe) fundamentally reject this idea. The locus of control is always external and therefore it's on everyone else to do something, never them. Especially if they don't want to do it or it's harder than doing nothing.

Every single day they go on forums to whine about other people holding them back rather than doing anything to change. Of course you can't solve disordered thinking this way. If you assume you're brilliant and know everything as they do you're never going to believe that you're thinking wrong thoughts.

This is also why they desire things to be medical problems, because that outsources the issue. Being mental or psychological problems, as in actual problems not "personality traits" like having a bunch of friends in your head that chat about TV shows, the solution has to be internal. Even the mental disorders for which there are strong medical answers like schizophrenia still require this, ideally they wouldn't rely on the drugs just unfortunately they often need to. For depression and anxiety, the drugs aren't any answer, you're supposed to get off of them asap, something which much of trans/disabled Twitter or people like Kyuuji openly reject.

It's not simple, I still take depression meds, I'd like to stop but my doctor thinks better safe than sorry. But after around seven years I stopped, almost cold turkey, my anxiety meds and I haven't gone back. It was just a period where I realized I wasn't taking them as often and decided I wouldn't take them at all unless it felt absolutely necessary, that I would just try to fight through whatever. It made a fundamental difference because it shifted my perception of control over to myself from the "disorder" and eventually really helped my depression because they're connected. I went the opposite way from most people during the pandemic, I said when shit was normal again I wasn't going to be dishonest anymore. People like Shreds thought it was bliss, they were finally being the girl they were meant to be, so wanted to make life that way forever.

I don't mean to get personal or talk about myself as this gold standard, I'm not, especially because I'm not saying anything that ALL OF PSYCHOLOGY doesn't. I don't expect most people, let alone idiots like Shreds or Violet, to read academic psychological research or even the laymen's versions to learn about themselves and what they're addressing. But the only example I know I can point to is myself. They aren't at the accepting you have a problem stage, they're "accepting" they have a fun quirk, an excuse, etc. They don't see it as wrong. They aren't broken, there's nothing to fix about themselves, the progressive sphere doesn't treat mental illness this way, it rewards and champions it as a duty that others are required to adjust themselves for. So like I said at the top, they fundamentally reject the concept. I don't have problems, I have failures of others, of society, to do their duty towards me.

I have an hour to get $4000 for my father's jaw surgery, $1700 for my best friend's mom's asbestos removal from her attic, $2200 for my pastors engine repair on his Corolla, and $1300 for rent for my dog sitter.  Don't tell me why I spread myself thin.  I'm here to help my friends and family, no matter what it takes.  What can I say?  I'm just an extremely principled and moral person.  Okay, my job is done, your turn.  When can I get the money?
