All of these arguments about not jumping to conclusions, being less reactive and being considerate towards what's being discussed are greatly hurt by the fact that many of the posters saying this are also being reductive towards anyone understandably concerned about the usage of the term "feminist agenda" and apparent attempts to appease crowds who care concerned about said agenda.

They just hate Bloober or they didn't bother reading the article or they're pretending to care or trying to look like they have the moral higher ground. I'm not sure some of you understand or care about why people reacted so badly and that's really going to need to matter more if you're trying to weigh in on sexism, feminism, how it shapes portrayals of women in media and how people react to them.

Not to mention people saying "I get it" and defending the non-sarcastic interpretation of the text... hmmmmm

He explains the joke, followed by the normal meaning. Era conflates "feminism" with "not hating women" but the guy is joking saying "feminist agenda" to say it's not about the "hates men" stereotype. Era posters live in such a paranoid bubble that they think "women should be mostly equal to men" isn't the norm so it then becomes this bold feminist proclamation. It's not, you're the ones out of touch and gaslighting yourselves. Everyone else has lived in the world where there's been multiple waves of feminism already. This is why modern feminism is infinitely split over topics like "should women be allowed to want sex with and make themselves attractive to men?", "should pornography be a hate crime against women?", "should women have their own separate sports?" and other such specific debates. When people refer to "feminism" or "feminists" they mean this kind of thing, not the feminism of 1890. These guys believe "you shouldn't beat and rape women" is this brave and stunning position that shocks the normies.

Era posters have no arguments for their positions so they have to conflate the two so they can browbeat and emotionally abuse people for "rejecting feminism" if they think consensual pornography shouldn't be illegal. Oops, wait, Era sides with the libs on that one rather than certain academic feminists and other leftists. Damn complexity, stop helping the ruling class!

I think it's important to recognize that a rich white person spouting off "let's all work together" nonsense does not make them conservative, as some in this thread are implying. What he's saying he is very much a stereotypical privileged white liberal take to have.

They support dems and they donate to good causes but when it comes to calling out the fascists on the other side, they don't want to piss off potential product consumers.

As a Canadian, you absolutely did. I appreciate that it was not intentional, perhaps coming out of instinct to want to believe an actor who is quite beloved and is probably in a lot of movies you like isn't so terrible on a level beyond the average, but there is aggravating context here that makes it beyond the usual liberal fence-sitting. Equating it to just usual average liberal attitudes from that US lens absolutely downplays it and disregards specific cultural and political context, even without meaning to.

We're talking about someone who claims to be proud of being from a country, who profits from that association, being at an event where the literal prime minister is giving a speech about standing up to the country that threatened to invade us, and then gave an utterly spineless 'maybe we should learn from the people who are threatening to invade us?'

The "I get it" post. Wasn't it clearly stated what the "get it" means, with the " From what I understood they're just bored of male protagonists and that should be fine". They understand the want to have a woman as a protagonist and the reasoning for it (female protags being in the minority). The person also excplicitly said that the "feminist agenda" part shouldn't have been there. They said what they agree with and with what they don't. They are commenting the article, not just the headline of this thread. The hostility towards them is completely unwarranted.
