I've been seeing lots of posts here from other firings related to people speaking out, along the lines of "no shit, any large company will fire you for this".

While it's undeniably true, we should be fighting the idea this is acceptable, and NOT blaming the person for speaking out. People keeping their mouth shut, burying their heads in their sand, living in silence despite their feelings, is a large part of why the world is in this fucking mess in the first place. Companies should not in any way be policing what you say in public. No matter what it says in your terms of employment.
