ITTG was manually deleting all their posts in preparation for leaving, and had done hundreds (or thousands?) which must've taken hours and hours. Staff put them all back. The reason given was that an OP shouldn't delete the contents of an OP... but they put them all back.

I had enquired about account deletion / removal before and got told there's no way to remove all your posts other than giving the mods a list of the ones you want deleted.

I think it got asked somewhere before about how that aligns with GDPR's right to be forgotten / right to erasure without much by way of a clear answer.

Yeah, but it's a bit much to revert someone's edits when they're planning to leave. I guess the TOS says whatever we post here is Era's property. But it seems very petty to reverse hours of work.

Reminds me of this kid in one of my general classes back in design school. He spoke loudly in memes, to no one in particular, hoping someone would recognize what he was quoting. Yup. I still remember one of the main reasons I stopped playing games online on Xbox Live was a guy who came into voice chat playing Lost Planet 2 singing the n-word to the tune of Ode to Joy like he thought it was the funniest thing ever he could say that word over and over again. And when I told him to shut the fuck up his response was just to repeatedly, aggressively throw homophobic slurs at me because of the sound of my voice.

The internet enables some of the worst people to be their true selves on main. Too many people just hid from that reality for too long, and now here we are.

Look at the first few words he led with. I told y'all these people are scared because not only did a white Christian conservative man "just like them" get popped, but it was in such a morbidly ironic, almost Hollywood fashion that the expectations of shared outrage didn't come rolling in. They were faced- for probably the first time in their lives- with the idea that not only could they themselves potentially be merked for their shitty beliefs, but that society would laugh or, worse yet, just not care at all.

They saw themselves in that moment as minoritized, as given the same due consideration with which they have always treated ethnic and queer minorities: expendable.

White people as a collective have the overall inoculation level against cultural violence of a newborn kitten. What passes as acceptable, deserved, and routine against everyone else is an existential crisis for them. All of this fury against people who had fuck all to do with this (like, for real, who in the targeted groups actively had Kirk on their minds before his death?) is a defensive, fear-based reflex over the fact that their little bubbles got popped. They thought they were untouchable. And the realization that they ain't, in this violent, gun-toting society with which they themselves fomented, is scaring them to death.

And, remember, the KKK didn't come from nowhere. Historically, we all know what happens when white people as a group get scared to death: they look to make an example out of someone either until the adrenaline wears off or as a matter of correcting existing hierarchies.

I can't predict the future. But I will say I am not confident anymore that this is going to fall from the news cycle like Trump's attempted assassination did, in part because Charlie's was successful, and mainly because they are deciding to primarily target other white people with all of this doxxing and hit. Corporations are also going along with it because, well, look who runs the corporations. As much as it is aggravating and hypocritical to see these people simultaneously wilt over fear and also rejuvenate for the desire for revenge, y'all need to be careful around your white cohorts unless you know and trust them from top to bottom, especially if they have any effect of your employment. Learn how to move in a fascist environment and start taking care of business in your communities in the off-chance that if you do get caught out, you either have some place to go or some means of community defense.

Let me help out those RE visitors who are struggling to understand something simple to normies: any belief, ANY belief, no matter what it is, CANNOT be as bad as actually hurting someone IRL. That's why we punish mugging someone but not Swastikas. Nazis were bad because of what they DID. I made the mistake of reacting the day that Kirk got killed, at work in front of my Sous Chef (at my old job now. Im literally drafting a resignation later for something unrelated) but my Sous Chef got upset when I said that I wasn't upset that the Nazi got sniped. He said dont talk to me all day, then ignored me the next two days.

Then I get this text at 12 AM last night...
