As someone who suffers from an addictive personality and has been completely fucked over by video game paid RNG and gambling tactics in the past (it's why I have to actively avoid gatcha games and I wish that genre didn't have them), I despise these "cute" ways video game companies are trying to get around regulation so they can continue to exploit.

It's one of those things I am completely done with, after over a decade of seeing fan, press and dev alike downplaying, gaslighting, shaming, mocking, dismissing and seeing people repeatedly say some of the most ignorant and shitty things about addiction (and repeatedly refuse to learn) neurodivergence and mental health, I'm done with an excuse and justification for this shit, I'm done with fans, press and devs parroting the PR speak of CEOs and constantly ignoring the reports and studies that show this shit is dangerous or that companies like Facebooks and gambling companies approve of this shit because it makes it easier for them to push gambling onto kids once they reach age.

This is exploitation, plain and simple, if you start declaring "but it supports the devs!" (it doesn't as we constantly see, especially the past 2 years with the massive layoffs industry wide, please stop believing in Raegan era trickle down economic propaganda), you are saying that it's perfectly okay for children and people with addictive personalities (oh I'm sorry, I mean "Whales" because you have to de-humanize us even more, got a pretend we aren't real people!) to be exploited by said devs, that it's okay for video games to prey on people because we're less important, not worth caring about, worth sacrificing because you're not affected and because it's your favourite game so it shouldn't be criticized.
