Playground has their workflow they've used for years, vehicle models already exist from previous games for the most part, and they've had sufficient time to model new vehicles. Roads have been scanned. Sky models have been scanned. They've got Japanese consultants helping them out with setting the right tone.

They used procedural generation for foliage in FH5, and that's perfectly fine. Hopefully on release we don't have uneducated takes labeling that as 'AI slop'.



Not likely, since it's Playground, but the train wreck of FM led to significant financial losses and layoffs at Turn 10. Praying for conditions that could lead to layoffs at Playground is quite the thing indeed.

Thankfully, that's very unlikely.

What is uneducated is to ignore the extent to which certain companies have been pushing for developers to include AI in their workflows, whether or not it is part of their workplace culture. It is completely normal for anyone to be wary of the possibility that such slop is included because Microsoft as a publisher has already done it in the past, no matter how much you try to adorn your arguments with made-up references to unreasonable outrage. Nobody here would be bothered by procedurally generated trees.

I can theoretically understand an organization not wanting to waste time with a "small" donation that required full accountability and accounting. I don't know if anyone can demand that a donation not be used for any administrative fees or purposes, but if that was a demand he had maybe some orgs just walk away from dealing with all of that.

Honestly the stuff with his family is probably the part that could maybe excuse any of this, but this is the first time I've heard this story beyond the weird Jobst videos that got worse over time.

The only video I watched of his was the one where he tried to archive the entire eShop which absent any context was an interesting video idea. I'm not sure if I care either way what happens to him after all of this, just that the other side really sucks.

I imagine this is the video game equivalent of watching Destiny or Ethan Klein fight Hasan and you don't really care about the actual fight, but you know one person is much worse than the other.

It just feels like our souls are being chipped away by the Internet. People don't have to accept this guy's or anyone's apologies, but what's the point in apologizing when 60% of people have already decided you're a monster and nothing can ever change that?

I want to live in a world where people can make mistakes, MASSIVE mistakes, and still find some kind of redemption. Or at least peace. And maybe Jirard gets that. But dang, it hurts my heart to see so many people trashing the very idea of an apology.

Jirard can absolutely get peace or redemption without being forgiven by most. Jirard is not entitled of forgiveness because he nows feels bad about it (and wants to relaunch his channel).

Yeah i feel that forgiveness is in very short supply these days. I still remember that Riot dev that got fired for making racist comments when he was a kid even though it was years ago and apologized profusely, internet people did not forgive. Then again the people who do wrong and do a truthful apology feel like an outlier.
