The media will hold the Dems feet to the fire over anything they say, however. Republicans get a pass because they badger and double down with more lies, so the press just lets them go, maybe out of fear. I haven't seen Dems do that type of thing in retaliation where the media wouldn't hold up their double standard with them.

Maybe, but I don't think lying will be as profitable for Democrats. Democratic voters aren't as dogmatic. We believe in science, data statistics etc., whereas the Right takes anything Trump says as gospel (or if they know he's lying, they won't hold it against him anyway.)

The advantage Republicans have isn't the unashamed dishonesty. The advantage Republicans have is sufficient amorality to take advantage of infrastructure that allows them to not have that dishonesty meaningfully challenged.

Democrats could lie freely, but that's only half the battle, and I wouldn't approve of Democrats exerting the threats that would be necessary to not have those lies then challenged by credible journalists or other sources.

The Dems need to get better at marketing their shit.

It's not about lying it's about actually counter messaging the lies Republicans tell. The problem with Dems is they constantly let republicans lead the narrative without pushback and often agreeing with them. When people do try to pushback or call republicans out dem leadership tells them to stop.

Democrats lie or tell the truth, it doesn't matter. 40% of the country will never believe them because they're inside a conservative ecosystem that flips everything a Democrat / Liberal says or does. And there isn't a comparable liberal airtight media ecosystem.

Lies are not the issue (and dems do it too), the Left doesn't have the media machine these fascist asshats have. The left also lack conviction, suffer a gerontocracy, and the growing popularity of progressives intentionally suppressed.

Caving to the right wing border spin; when Biden was stopping more drugs and deporting more criminals, was a stupid move. Parroting lines about trans women in sports, and not combating the bullshit about drag show book readings lead to so much harassment and demonization.

Democrats are unwilling to do this because they support capitalism. The contradictions and tensions between human rights and capital accumulation is why they have to twist themselves into knots trying to explain it all. Which is why the question of Palestine is so effective at exposing their hypocrisy.

We were supposed to be at the end of history, and politics was a solved problem, but alas, class struggle defines and makes history everyday.

They should absolutely start promising shit they can't explain. That used to be something that matter how you were going to do something. But look at Trump in 2016 essentially just saying health care will be better with no plan. He was really the first candidate to just essentially promise everything under the sun and when pressed was like I've got a plan.

Say everyone is getting health insurance while dramatically reducing the debt without raising a single tax. Voters have proven now that if you repeat it and with conviction that you can convince people of it.

Recently had a bit of a "clarity epiphany" regarding some of the classic visual Star Wars iconography. In particular, regarding the visual design of the standard Stormtrooper helmets + Darth Vader's helmet/mask.

Both the Stormtroopers and Darth Vader have permanent scowls forever frozen on their faces. The face of constant, perpetual grievance. The face of fascism. And their "eyes" are totally soulless and blacked out, almost beady eyed. And the classic Stormtrooper helmet has that black strip that runs along top the brow. Almost appears like a caveman-esque unibrow physical feature.

Whenever I see fascist faces, they very often look like this dude's tomato red scowl. And in them, I'm now constantly seeing the visages of the Stormtroopers & Vader from Star Wars, practically every time. It's kind of surreal.

Of course I'd always known about these details regarding Star Wars and it obviously being an anti-fascist parable. But for whatever reason, seeing a number of these hate monger's faces in recent times has really brought the visual design techniques of classic Star Wars front to mind.

I think part of what it is too is just how similar all these hate filled people look from person to person too really. They all have the same "IM BIG MAD FUCK U" belligerent asshole look about them; furrowed brow, beady eyes, frowning agape mouths, tomato red skin tones. Dime a dozen type deal.

As I said before, no one has to forgive him. He failed and should probably go try to build a life doing something else out of the public eye.

But I understand why he did what he did, even if it's extremely bad and wrong.  I had a family member steal my identity and force me into bankruptcy when I was only 28. It stole nearly a decade of my life. But I went to bat for them because I loved them. You do dumb stuff to try and protect your family. And I think that's what happened here.

Honestly the worse things get, I'm considering just not buying a smartphone for my kid until they're 18. It's brainrot for everyone involved. Including adults.
Dumbphone only, maybe a smartphone that's heavily restricted to just text messages, WhatsApp, maps and phone calls so they're not using a Nokia 3310 and having to text like we did in the 90s/early 2000s.

Yup. That's what me and my wife decided, that they will only own phones at that age. We monitor any activity they get up to when using our phones, such as the youtube channels (only educational channels allowed), streaming services, parental controls. We teach them or comment and question on what they're consuming, and increase their critical thinking. Even when my kids turn into their teens, we agree we'll be using dumbphones.
