The deal seems to be, Russia gets Crimea and the Donbass.
Apart from that the war ends and Ukraine gets NATO-like security guarantees.

Now the question is can anyone involved be trusted and will Zelensky actually concede land to the Russians.
It's likely that he won't.

Trump's international diplomacy must be him incessantly bleating like a dying blowhard to the point where his "opponent" will sign anything to get the meeting over with.

Honestly not a bad strategy against a bunch of geriatric world leaders.

It's economic and military pressure.

With Russia it's flying a B2 over Putins head, putting nuclear submarines in play and threatening secondary tariffs (i.e. tariffs on oil Russia sells to India and China).
He will probably demand some kind of "mutual investment" in the artic too as the Russians proposed the first time they met. Also has his eyes on the gas pipelines.

Maffia extortion tactics deployed on the global economy. Much like how the Europeans and later Chinese handled 'weaker' African nations.

Zelensky will probably refuse but with the Nobel peace prize on the line, Trump will probably put some pressure on.

I'm watching Zelensky and Trump right now. I think Trump has done it and this thing might actually be over.

That's the Canadacry Minister of Justice reacting to the Leader of the Opposition complaining about a dude getting charged with assault for beating a home invader (the home invader was carrying a crossbow).

Canada is so cooked.

Somehow this makes me grateful for Trump? I’d rather have a troll fuckhead for a national leader than this kind of ancient throwback ruler who have warlocks on staff and shit.

Good to see the policies are working. Short term pain for long term gain rather than a whole country slowly bleeding to death while eating itself.

yah, FUCK the british.

But neither is really saying anything relevant.

What was the ME before the Europeans? Part of the Ottoman empire. And before that? Part of the Caliphate. And before that? Part of the Byzantine empire. And before that? Part of the Roman empire. And you can go on further. It seems to me although the region isn't best structured for nation states, yet it still "worked" for millenia as part of a greater whole even though it wasn't supposed to "work this way".

I am all ears about some kind of new political organization to better serve local populations, but to me, looking at geographic and political realities, this would only be a matter of time before some great power(s) swoop(s) in and force(s) these people to not "work this way" again for decades/centuries to come.
