Quote:The contradictions that plague the African continent for the sake of Western imperialism don't penetrate the news cycles not only because the West's cultural foundations are rooted in sheer antipathy to African and Black life, but also because many of these contradictions inevitably become intracontinental, such as Rwanda's role in the DRC's suffering, and so the conflicts are filtered as just "civil war" or "clashes" or "famine" back to the Imperial Core without any clarifying context as to our direct and indirect role within this mass suffering. The physical and narrative distance creates apathy compared to, say, anything Trump does because what Trump does directly affects people within the Core, humans who inevitably matter more than some mere "statistics" in Sudan.
Gaza was largely the same way up until recently, with most people just looking at the Middle East as this mishmash of "centuries'-long conflicts," as just "people who have been fighting forever and can't seem to get along." What happened is that not only were we given mountains of horrific 4K footage documenting what was always obviously a genocide, but Western politicians- even the "good ones"- were nonetheless in support of the cleansing despite people screaming at them to stop it, exposing a major contradiction that has always underlied Western hegemony and has thus chipped away at unbridled support in neoliberal institutions. Gaza was the curtain being pulled on the Wizard. The African contininent as a whole has not had its curtain-pulling moment yet for the masses.
I needed that. Yes Nepenthe, pull the curtain. And the world will react to Africa just like it did to Gaza. Great Plan!
It's funny because she said she read up on Palestine and Israel after Oct 7th and declared the history of the conflict simple because it's less than 100 years old. And she goes back to her Core and Periphery learning to explain why the US doesn't publish news constantly about Africa.
Quote:The physical and narrative distance creates apathy compared to, say, anything Trump does because what Trump does directly affects people within the Core
Huh, crazy how that holds true for China, South Asia, India, Australia, South America and East Europe except for one nation. Yet they don't have African or Black life?
Quote: exposing a major contradiction that has always underlied Western hegemony
And just what is that "major contradiction." Like always, she refers to a thing and says some version of, "I've always mentioned this thing," and never explains what the "thing," is.

It's been too long since we've had some Nepenthe so I needed a second helping.
Quote:This isn't actually sustainable, especially in perpetuity. How many "once in a lifetime" economic downturns have we had within our living memory? Our parents' living memory? How much war and genocide has been wrought specifically because of this system? How much underdevelopment of the Global South and the millions of deaths resulting simply from lack of access to a basic standard of living has happened because of this system? How many of us have died from its pollution and infrastructure failures? How many years do we actually have until we hit 4c degrees warming (it's probably shorter than what the media is reporting in order to not cause panic)? Capitalism, by design, isn't actually sustainable in terms of stability and health for the majority of humanity or even our ecological systems.
It's sustainable for the bourgeoisie though. They love what's happening right now.
As for whether or not Americans want this system, I wouldn't say for certain that's the case. For one, I don't think most Americans functionally know what capitalism means beyond "making money." But anecdotally, I don't encounter many people who, when I come along to explain what capitalism is in basic terms, go "Oh no, that's great; I love dedicated the majority of my life to making some lazy fuck rich off of my limited time and physical capabilities doing a bullshit job that means nothing." Just doesn't really happen.
Regardless, you will likely not see revolt in the US because we are a culture of pessimism and comfort. People, for one, lack belief in, knowledge of, and imagination for the existence of alternative economic models because all they know and are forced to know is their current reality. They might not like capitalism but don't even know where to begin searching for something better, in part because they're really pessimistic about their chances of success (for not entirely bad reasons; how many activists and revolutionaries have we killed again?) but also because they're easily distracted by all the trinkets and toys the US offers access to. I mean, you're on a gaming forum after all. The very identity of this place is dedicated to one of the biggest distractions and means of Western propagandization on the planet.
But even then, when you're overworked, poor, and have no real hope for a future, yeah, you're gonna play video games and scroll on social media to escape. That's all people want: an escape.
She always says this. "When I explain [subject] people get it for once!" Why don't you explain that to your members for once? Quit just saying how you know so much about X and actually tell us about X. Explain capitalism the way you do to these antagonistic people that suddenly fall in line and want to elect you to govern them.
There is a non-internet thing she participates in, where apparently she's also the smartest, most judicial, and hardest working person. It's kind of hard to describe it as reality when from the ways she describes it, it's exactly like her online self except she's a respected leader.

Way a lot less than you think, specially compared to the past and other systems.

Blame? No, sweet child. We should suffer for trans joy. It is therapeutic. Suffering for the service of trans joy will bring us to the next level of oppressive ascension.
When grandpa and little shuri starve in the streets we will know that Dems held strong so that a white middle class internet addict can goon on bluesky with their favorite HRT featuring cute anime girls on the box. Would you rather they pay out of pocket as one would any other body modification procedures? No, no. My child. Acceptance will bring you serenity. And soon even children will know the joy of government sanctioned transitioning.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a shit that my job is bullshit and that someone somewhere might be getting rich because if it? I see it as leasing my time to someone in exchange for money so that I don't have to forage for berries all day. If the job is really bullshit, joke's on them I guess. You could say I'm the landlord of my labour.
Then again, I'd probably sing a different tune if I was making 8$ an hour. Maybe even The International.
