Okay Benji, I will bite because I’m curious on you reasoning it: Can you explain this idea?

I'm going to venture that he means you can be a supporter of free speech and also cancel your $13/month subscription to person of gender indoctrination of two year olds masquerading as television(and encourage others to do the same until Netflix stops producing and offering such garbage). "Voting with your wallets" is the kind of free speech that companies actually listen to for their decisions.

???

Outside of that, I agree with the reasoning (the same reason why Teslas stoped selling Awesome ) but is rich coming from a dude that went mad every time a private company did the same but with stuff he agreed with. To the point of saying he was going to pay the lawsuits of people wrongfully terminated by cancel culture.

A games journalist with opinions on movies AND snacks? I deeply apologize for casting aspersions on this titan of intellect and analysis.

The funny thing is that ADL has been accused of being ProIsrael and anti Palestine way before the current conflict. ERA didn’t care enough until their favorite influencer started to bitch about it.

Era didn't even know what Palestine was until Hamas murdered some Jews at a music festival and then the Jews decided to murder everyone in retaliation.

These 40-year-old men were unaware about the conflict until they saw it trending on a teens dancing app. Who can blame them. It’s such a censored and niche topic that Adam Sandler made a comedy about it in 2007.

I'm going to say something that may or may not feel good to hear. For me personally, knowing what to expect helps keep me grounded.

It's very common for relationships to be tested like this after several years together and many hardships. It's often called the 7-year itch. I'm not saying this is "supposed" to happen, but it happens.

For a long time in most relationships, there is still quite a bit of limerance. But at some point, we know our partners inside and out, good and bad. No more rose colored glasses. It can be jarring for people and they question if they still love their partners. In our 20s and 30s, we often are not used to being in a relationship after limerence. Limerence is wonderful but it's not meant to be 24/7 forever. It wanes and surges. On top of that, life wears us down. We feel restless. Feeling stuck in life or in need of a change can make one question if they have made the right choices in life. Because partners lives are naturally so wrapped up in each others, feeling of life dissatisfaction will color how one sees the relationship. We as people are surprisingly good at getting our wires crossed when trying to rationalize the reason we feel a certain way.

This all sounds very bad. And in a lot of ways its unpleasant. But, relationships that survive it are stronger in many ways. This period of time requires relearning ourselves and the other person without rose colored glasses for your partner and for life in general. It requires exploring oneself deeply and reflecting on what contributes to dissatisfaction. Love in this stage really becomes a verb. You actively love and make effort to love. That generates the feeling of love. You actively explore what you love about a person because after 7 years, things start to feel normal and we take it for granted. You explore what you don't love. You confront your own demons. And i know it sounds like the work is all on your wife but it's not. You'll end up doing a lot of reflecting and this whole situation will force you to reevaluate just as much. This is hard work and downright scary at times. On the positive side, if you can get through it and manage to reconnect, the love you find with your partner on the other side of this struggle is one that is honest and earned and what can make it stronger and more durable than it was before in my opinion.

It takes two people to get through this phase and it requires that both people actively want to fix the relationship. I recommend counseling individually for you both as you may both be dealing with psychological/emotional pitfalls or depression. And i recommend coming to an agreement on if you want to try to make this work and if so going to marriage counseling.

Good luck with things. I really hope it works out.

They made the thread members only. Also this was definitely written with AI

Of course not, but I will call out what I perceive as hypocrisy from him.

He may not consider himself a Free speech absolutist but he took advantage of selling himself as free speech fighter to a generation of voters that genuinely thought Trump was going to protect it because he and Elon liked to say stupid shit.

If he has no duty and he's never advocated for such a duty, then what's the hypocrisy?

You started this entire thing by implying that anyone who supports free speech has a duty to endorse any speech made by anyone. You seemed to have backed off of it in this conversation. Now it seems like you are reversing your "of course not" and saying Elon does have this duty because of his exaggerated claim of supporting free speech. Which indicates to me that either you don't support free speech or you endorse everything Garfield (the poster, not the cat who hates Mondays) says.

A much better and closer to an actual claim of hypocrisy would be that Elon has said he will fund the legal bills of anyone fired for anything posted on Twitter, here he is attempting to get people fired for things they did that other people are now posting on Twitter years after it happened.

you can be pro free speech and also dislike things

you can be pro free speech and say "ugh this show is awful and shouldn't have been made" while understanding that its creators had every right to make it

you could be hoping that everyone else exercised THEIR free speech in trashing it and denouncing it

you can wish others hadn't said things, or wish they agreed with you or held different opinions

none of that has anything to do with you actively stifling their speech

I’m backing off because we agree to disagree at this point. Trumps

You say Elon never promised this (  Lucille ) while he spent years sperging for years about it.

You do want 3 pages of discussing what a billionaire manchild drug addict mean with all that?

I said tap out because you don’t like “agree with disagree” when there is little to discuss further, I’m sorry that I legit asked for your reasoning and was not satisfied with it. Yeshrug

I’m sorry that I’m not thrilled that two cunts that sold themselves as defenders of Free Speech are now actively doing what they decried for years (but is okay because there was no duty to uphold Awesome ).

We've gone in circles just for you to now admit that you think anyone who supports free speech has a duty to endorse anything said by anyone. Even after you lied and said you don't believe that. This is the kind of thing you do constantly that makes you so maddening on here and I can't figure out why I can't learn to know better at this point.
