Yesterday the Supreme Court decided to fuck over half a million people and gave the Trump administration the go ahead to strip TPS for Venezuelans even though a federal judge and the Ninth Court of appeals made a final judgement on our favor(law scholars are in shock because SCOTUS has basically never stayed a final decision in a shadow docket)

I'm sure many "law scholars" are sniffing their own farts on this because 99% are flaming liberals, but the ones whose heads aren't stuck up their own ass realize that it's the lower courts(namely on the west coast and in New England) that keep blocking all of trump's orders, sometimes in minutes without even reading the briefs in the case. Moreover, the Supreme Court already swatted down the lower court in the spring over this, so for the lower court to try the same order in the same case(as a "final order" instead of an injection, even though the Supreme Court already warned them against doing this again) was pure chutzpah.

Klein thinking that political violence against the elites is somehow an attack on us all, the fact that he can only see political violence within the realm of targeting politicians or political elites like himself ("I thought about Pelosi, Shapiro, Trump, and you"), and not the systemic violence that Black people go through everyday and have gone through everyday throughout our centuries'-long dialectical history with white people (which Coates brought up) is fundamentally why I hate liberalism.

Lesbian Gen Y (the best Star Wars Starfighter) here, avoiding a conservative toxic person makes sense to me and I fully get wanting to avoid someone who fetishizeses autism or thinks Autistic people are more submissive/weak/more easily controlled.

The "doesn't call his parents" one seems really unfair though and feels quite abusive and gaslighty against people who suffered from parental abuse (and comes across as suggesting the victim of abuse is the bad one). As someone with depression and other issue because of severe bullying, I couldn't judge someone for having emotional issues; and not going to lie, seeing that being considered reasonable is depressing.

I like the idea of someone having different opinions, likes, hobbies, tastes etc. Same with quirks, issues as long as they weren't abusive.

I just want a woman who is understanding, not a bigot, assertive, brave, caring, accepting and supportive of me transitioning and being autistic and likes cats. Also has an amazing laugh but that's optional. I doubt any one like Manon from SF6 would be interested in me.

Though I'm a shy introvert (which the article has made me feel ugly for) with massive social anxiety that gets who would freeze and silently scream if flirted at (and fully in the articles ick list because I wouldn't feel comfortable dancing and doing karaoke in public around people I didn't know, though it's less embarrassed and more scared and suffering bad memories of mockery, especially if I was with someone not supportive and was considering me lesser and a freak for it), I'm never dating :(

In recent weeks, I have been mulling things over as the clocks have ticked ever closer to this moment. Namely, about how I should mark what is a very important occasion for me.

For quite some time, I have worn my alcohol problems on my sleeve when discussing sensitive subjects. And, to put it mildly, I was quite the community disaster drunk, stumbling from thread to thread making quick to anger arguments and barely legible tangents.

I first started drinking in 2014, in what I would eventually come to accept was me self-medicating to numb various traumas and anxieties that I have exposited in threads I set up to express suicidal ideation in the past. Life was, for me, not a series of emotional peaks and troughs, but a continuous rock bottom as I lurched from day to day with basically nothing but the next drink motivating me onwards.

But in the middle of writing out this OP, my phone buzzed me the alert that...



...It has been precisely a year since my last drink.

I remember exactly when, where and what and it wasn't glamorous. It was a pint of cheap bitter in a miserable pub in a run down town to stop shaking and ease the anxiety spiral I was stuck in.

Now there's three reasons I wanted to make a thread about the occasion:

1) To flex the achievement.



FUCK YEAH, I'M A YEAR SOBER!!!

What is now over a year ago, I was convinced my addiction was going to drive me into an early grave. I was even told as much on several occasions by medical professionals. Yet I saw no way out of that pit, with very little professional support available to me. On a statistical basis, overcoming an addiction at a level that I suffer with was pretty unlikely. Yet, despite some extremely stressful and difficult moments, I've managed a milestone that is indescribably difficult, without any professional support.

2) I want to reach out to anyone who might be suffering with addiction, or even just worries they may be drinking a little too much, and say that as difficult as changing habits may be, it's possible. I don't want to say "If I can do it, anybody can," because I know from experience what an infuriating thing it is to be told. But I do implore people stuck in substance abuse to not feel ashamed but to seek connection, if help is available to you reach out and take it, and know it's never too late to turn your ship around.

3) I'd like to both apologise for the years of erratic behaviours I have exhibited, getting into quick to temper fights and arguments that needn't have gotten so out of control, and also express the deepest gratitude for the patience and support people have afforded me over the years while I have grappled with my alcoholism. Trying to stop my bad behaviours were a big motivator in getting my drinking under control, including the countless false starts that I made over the years. I don't know what I did to deserve the support and friends that I have made, but from the bottom of my heart, thank you.



With this all having been said, here's to a second year of sobriety, and many more to come after that!

I'm having a bit of a hard night honestly. All my life I've always felt a bit of an outcast on my dad's side of the family. He passed away recently and that side has reconnected with my brother quite well. The family from time to time tries to reach out and sometimes I respond and sometimes I don't so it's not entirely them for blame. But I'm just different than them all they made crude jokes and our interests are different so conversations don't last long. This is same with my brother growing up we weren't super close but hoped I'd get better but never really did. Always just sees me as the little brother and only talks to me about my dad's stuff anytime I ask how they're doing (wife, kids) get vague answers. I found out he came down to my city where all my family is and didn't tell me till the next day. They're family issues between my mom and him but i guess that's tainted me as well. Anyways bought a house a month and half ago he's never come by to see it or help. I also got a new niece and anytime I FaceTime with him he just doesn't show me the family. Today I find out that my dads side of the family went to a football game with my brother and my sister in law's family. Just been crying for a bit since I feel like I'm a decent person and while I suck at texting I always pick up phone calls right away. It's just crummy to think my blood family is pretty much non existent besides my mom. It's crummy feeling you're not wanted and you kinda feel like anything could happen to me and my blood family would careless. It didn't help that I was at a friend child's birthday party today and seeing families join in together makes me sad I don't have that really.
