Yeah, but not because of my investment in the sport specifically.

I was bullied a lot in middle school. I really enjoyed baseball up until that point, but my biggest bullies were huge fans of a specific team that has always been really good. I was also an extremely late bloomer, and I was legitimately too small to start doing sports in middle school... so I just kinda cried every time that specific baseball team won games against my favorite team or any time I saw them win -- it felt like my bullies were being validated and sports hated me.

I didn't enjoy sports again until the pandemic. I got back into baseball (thanks, Shohei Ohtani!). I still fucking hate that same team though... still associate that team with feeling small, helpless, and hurt.

My entire family blocked me from talking about any of this. My friends yell at me and tell me they don't care and don't want to hear about it. Everyone at my work doesn't care or want to hear about it. Outside of these forums, I have tape over my mouth and I'm not allowed to mention the dictator in the room. I just want to wish everyone here the best of luck in the coming months. What helps Trump is that his "enemies" don't expect much better from him and respond the same way you do. So they won't defend the people they expected more from which are the Democrats. It's better to portray yourself as someone who will do the bare minimum instead of setting high expectations.
