Apologies, I was referring to the people who are full steam ahead on running him that I've seen on Blusky. Before this week I would not have expected anyone to be okay with a Nazi tattoo that proclaims themselves to be on the left.

The thing is that it's not just the libs backing this dude, there's tons of progressives doing it too. If we aren't honest about the problem we have then there's no hope for us to actually confront it and solve it.

This isn't a "Don't be mean to Pokemon" thing, it's a "I find the evolution of online trends interesting and this one's got me kind of baffled" thing.

Unfortunately the whole team sports attitudes towards politics has ALWAYS been a problem on all sides and existed regardless of ideology. Tribalism is to some extent coded into out fucking genetics and people will always be way more willing to forgive a lot as long as the person is on "their team" especially when they view the potential risk as not much for themselves personally. A lot of people attracted to leftwing ideology are so for reasons exactly as selfish as what drives people to rightwing ideology, so it's not really surprising that they'll support bad people if they think they stand to benefit even if others will be hurt

What is selfish about wanting healthcare for everyone, the minimum wage to be a living age, protecting the environment, ensuring the police are accountable for their actions, reducing income inequality, etc.? How are you, or anyone else here, harmed by these things? I cannot imagine being privileged enough to believe that wanting these things is "selfish".

Well if you want to get closer to that you'll have to vote for the guy who made a mistake 20 years ago even if he's never shown any nazi policies since or move by his reddit logs.
