The article Taylor links references CDC data that showed in certain cases social media usage was correlated with a decrease in certain bad things like suicide attempts. Taylor believes this is an argument for prescribing social media to teenagers.
Taylor literally did the comic: ![]() Anyway she also just tweeted this: 3 users liked this post: BIONIC, HeavenIsAPlaceOnEarth, HaughtyFrank

I'm over here wondering when we got so collectively wrapped around the axle about preventing suicide in the first place.
It's just such a silly rhetorical football. So much of the culture war revolves around who is doing more to prevent suicides... What's the actual scope of this issue? Is there meaningful population decline due to suicides that I don't know about? Is it a "even one is too many!" thing? If so, why? Schools are banning phones, for instance, but not because kids are blowing their own brains out during homeroom. The core issue on the social media debate seems to be more about kids growing up--kind of the literal opposite of suicide--as emotional and intellectual retards. 4 users liked this post: HeavenIsAPlaceOnEarth, D3RANG3D, Uncle, benji

Suicide makes other people feel guilty (or something) in a completely irrational way. People say absurdly insane things about people who commit suicide they'd never even think about saying for someone living.
The examples I always think of are people talking about someone who committed suicide by stepping in front of a truck or train, how much we need to think about their struggle, bravery, etc. Nobody ever really mentions the person they used without their consent to kill themselves. And I'm always the out of line one for bringing them and their trauma up. 5 users liked this post: HeavenIsAPlaceOnEarth, D3RANG3D, Uncle, DavidCroquet, Alpacx

"Sir the Dilbert guy is dying he needs medicine"
"WHO?" "The Dilbert guy?" "Colbert he's so bad so bad we got rid of him so fast you..." "No sir the DILBERT guy. I think his name is... Scott, Scott Adams. He's a big fan of yours. He has prostate cancer" "oh I guess we gonna help him huh" "Thank you Mr. President" "Send him a card" "A card sir?" "Scott I hope you recover from your horrible disease. I remember running into you a while ago. I told you to just let it rip. Keep up the good fight. Not all of us can be as healthy as President Trump. I've asked FEMA to supply you with a lifetime supply of toilet paper. Good luck Scott!" 6 users liked this post: Mask, benji, DavidCroquet, filler, simiansmarts, TylenolJones

the Trump admin missed a trick by not letting Scott Adams die badly and then blaming it on the democrats.
