I don't even stay up past midnight during the weekend.

It's not even like a choice, I'm just doing it naturally. What's happening to me? Cool stuff happens online after midnight like prices glitches and shit.

A loco thread
Quote:First off my wife got to vote for the first time today as a newly minted American. She's very proud of that now being a dual citizen.

Ahead of us in the line at the poll was a group of really old senior citizens that were being assisted by younger people to guide them through the voting process. I'd say half of them were completely senile and had no clue where they were. The old lady next to me was nasty and kept hitting her helper because his presence annoyed her. She started screaming at him that she wanted to vote for Trump but the helper calmly told her that we are not voting for the president today. He tried to explain to her that we are here to vote for gerrymandering for more democrat seats for California. She responded "but I'm voting for Trump!". I'm pretty sure she pressed the Yes button on the kiosk for approving the gerrymandering thinking she was voting for Trump. Made me realize that some of these people in the nursing home group were not in a good state to vote and had no idea what they were voting for. Another man from that group asked me if we were in line for entering the SF Giants stadium on my way out. I had to remind him that we are all there to vote for prop 50 but pretty sure he had no idea what I was talking about. I don't think any of these people were manipulated but made me realize that old senile people like the group I witnessed today can easily be taken advantage at the polls.

Anyways hope everyone here in California is voting today and voting yes to prop 50

2. That billionaire family helped raise Donald Trump to global celebrity in the first place, S.I. Newhouse was equally enraptured as Trump by Roy Cohn.
3. Vogue, like all of Conde Nast, has been shutting down entities for decades as print media dies, not to "curry favor" with fascists. Teen Vogue the magazine shut down in 2017 to become purely a website.
4. Vogue (and its personification Anna Wintour) has been criticized for decades for not caring about people of color, not employing them and not putting them on covers.
5. In 2021, this is the person they tried to make editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue:

After the appointment, a series of racist, bigoted and homophobic tweets that McCammond posted a decade earlier resurfaced. She apologized to the staff of Teen Vogue. Several media makers of Asian descent called for McCammond's removal, citing racism against Asians in the U.S. fashion industry and a rise in anti-Asian violence during the COVID-19 pandemic.[18] Former Teen Vogue editor Elaine Welteroth called the tweets and the feelings behind them "racist and abhorrent and indefensible."[19] More than twenty members of the staff voiced concern internally and to the press.[14] In response, Ulta Beauty paused $1 million in advertising in the online-only publication,[20] and McCammond resigned from the position prior to starting.[21]

From the Union's statement:
Quote:Management plans to lay off six of our members, most of whom are BIPOC women or trans, including Teen Vogue's Politics Editor—continuing the trend of layoffs at Condé disproportionately impacting marginalized employees.

...

Gone is the political-cultural criticism of the fashion and culture industries by the Black women writers laid off today. Gone are the incisive and artful depictions of young people from the Asian and Latina women photographers laid off today. Gone, from the lauded politics section, is the work that made possible the blockbuster cover of Vivian Wilson, one of Condé Nast's top performing stories of the year, coordinated by the singular trans staffer laid off today. Nearly all of these staffers identify as LGBTQ. As of today, only one woman of color remains on the editorial staff at Teen Vogue.
We're literally talking about one trans person and six people total. Dead

7. Teens don't read teen Vogue
Quote:Most damningly, just 1.7 percent of their May 2018 audience was 17 or younger. Only 2.6 percent were 18 to 24 years old. At the absolute most generous estimate, in Teen Vogue’s digital audience — the only audience they still have after they shelved their print edition with a final copy featuring Hillary Clinton on the cover — 1 in 20 readers is an actual teenager.

Quote:The media class certainly reads it, or at least that’s what they claim. Gen X writers from the Financial Times applaud their “kick-ass” news coverage. Even this publication praised the outlet, which includes such serious-minded reporting as “Teens Officially Read Way More Than Adults Do, So There” (well, yeah, they’re in school) and “Makeup Tips for Girls with Glasses and Freckles” (which is not, as I had hoped, the single sentence “Put the makeup on your face”). The latter piece is replete with product placement, including a $700 pair of vintage Cardin spectacles, but this has not shaken the faith of lefty writers that a decidedly woke shift in editorial direction represents a serious or at least positive trend in publishing for young readers — and, sure, maybe a few of their zoomer-curious elders.
Sounds familiar...

Quote:which reported 8,341,000 unique visitors to Teen Vogue’s website in May 2017. The “Trump Bump” was certainly good to them, with online readership tripling in 2016 after they started pumping socially progressive and political soapboxing content to their roster, followed by a steep plummet to 4,476,000 one year later.
Bet it's dropped more and more since then.

Quote:Criticisms of Teen Vogue don’t come exclusively from the Right. Clio Chang of the Columbia Journalism Review described the magazine’s portrayal of girls as “frequently flattened into either Greta Thunberg–like saviors or overly woke children who need to be saved.” And Chang zeroes in on what the Examiner misses: Teen Vogue’s editorial remit is not about reaching out to girls so much as portraying a parody of them, documentary-like, to their curious, envious elders.

While the exact numbers are disputable, one thing is certainly clear: far more adults — mostly millennials, in fact, even as we drift into middle age — are reading the teen magazine touting itself as “the young person’s guide to conquering (and saving) the world” than teens.

It would be tempting to pin this on an infantilizing women’s mediascape, but men, too, are drinking deep of the teen (the latest numbers show that 30 percent of Teen Vogue‘s readership are men, and it’s not clear if the publisher’s insistence that their readership is “genderless” is a nod to gender diversity or to queer politics).
But that's none of my business...

for anyone who hated him who might've had the opportunity to change their mind based on this, they won't

because he also says he would do as much as possible to convince them that they weren't trans and try to get them past it first

the respecting pronouns only comes at the point when the person says it's non-negotiable if you want a relationship with me

and by the way, if you raised this person and you actually believe you have a relationship this close, and you're coming from a standpoint of not believing the whole trans thing and hoping they're NOT trans, then this is a moot point because they won't be trans, you'll have raised them to understand that it's bullshit

if they are trans, and you've been against it the whole time, then you're not as close as you thought you were

but a calm, respectful relationship where they know you wish they weren't trans but you love them anyway is more likely to coax them out of that mindset than ejecting them from your life
