It's twofold.

1. TRAs honestly believe they're the centre of the universe and not giving in to all their desires and requirements is genocide
2. Leftist/liberal allies/orgs/journalists will champion anything that Trump or their local right-wing parties are against, no matter how ridiculous it might be. A broken clock...etc. 

#2 has been the big problem but some are realizing they have to wake up considering how unpopular it is among the populace. We just don't see it in the online discourse because internet janitors won't allow it.

I completely agree with this read.

For what it's worth, I've always stressed I think that Russell is genuinely progressive at heart. Even at the height of my substance fuelled volatility, when lamenting on how terribly Russell has handled trans characters, imagery and themes, I have always stressed I don't think he's transphobic. I've seen his "You can't have LGB without the T" speech where he denounced the LGB Alliance. It was a good, powerful speech and I know he is a good faith ally.

But that doesn't change that he's also terrible at handling the subject, to a degree that it's painfully obvious that, while he wants allyship to be seen in his work, he didn't run scripts or creative decisions past a trans consultant at somewhere like GLAAD, and the results are a disaster.

This applies to a lot of the socially conscious messaging he has tried to adopt more recently, where what is well meaning trips over into stereotypes and tropes that borders on the offensive.

The framing on this one is pretty . You aren't the center of the world problems, the topic came up, they made a decision, it got reported. But they frame as it as if this is the only thing happening at all because to them it is, it's all they pay attention to. "All this effort" is apparently being applied solely to a decision making body making a decision on a relevant topic.

If you try to ignore them, "cis don't care, where are our allies?" If you ever think about them in any way ever, "why are you so obsessed with us?" If they come to you with a demand and you refuse "just leave us alone!" If somebody reverses a stupid policy "why are we the center of the worlds problems?" If you think kids shouldn't be medically experimented on, "why do you care so much about kids genitals?" If you want to have rules, "but we're so few." If you say then it's not important "so we shouldn't have basic rights?"

Endless special pleading to try and emotionally manipulate you into feeling guilty if you ever deny them. Because that's the entire purpose in the first place, to try and manipulate you into treating them better by treating them as they imagine you'll treat the opposite gender because it's how they treat them. And when that fails, because they're mostly creeps, to manipulate you because otherwise they're just too fragile and refusing will probably cause them to unalive themselves (knife so sharp) and then you'll feel guilty because you killed them when all you had to do was just one thing for them.

It works with "progressives" like Era because, as one can plainly see every single day, that's how all their arguments operate. Is person marginalized and/or speaking for the marginalized? If yes, then do whatever they want or else you want them dead. Because any moron can come up with a series of increasingly improbable sensational events that will result in somebody's death. Like that a losing Olympic athlete becomes paranoid, hunts down and murders the person who beat them. Which is exactly why we need to end capitalism, colonialism and white supremacy and until y'all do that y'all aren't serious.
