Again people saying "ugh ai" are using obvious shorthand here. The "drive-bys" are specifically complaining about generative AI. You know very well that people specifically are complaining about generative AI when they speak about it like that. We are on a gaming forum. Obviously people are not complaining about AI in the general sense, this entire hobby is built on the evolution of AI technologies.

No it is not "obvious." You must define what context you're complaining about if you want a valid complaint to be considered, and considering the complaints that pave the roads these threads tread upon, they're often vague angst with no direction or solution. What do YOU even mean by "AI in the general sense" and would everybody else even agree with that construct? Probably not, everyone here has a different take on what AI or Generative AI means for them, or what have you. And because of this convolution, no ground can be covered really. It's just circular reaction angst takes. Just as much slop as the GenAI mistakes.

I was out last night with my partner and her sister. During their discussion, my partner was saying she needed a logo for her new business and her sister starts playing around in Copilot generating ideas. This is two people who are not terminally online and who are usually late adopters of technology.

My partner herself has used NotebookLM to collect study notes and to assess her spoken responses to questions to prepare for verbal exams. 

These retards are trying to fight the use of AI when AI has already won.

in my experience notebookLM is not advertised or marketed anywhere, I'm curious whether she uses it because you saw us fucking around with it here and told her about it

I don't really agree. If you wanna talk about images in popular culture regarding coverings, I feel like that style has become insanely popular. Like, let's just put to the side heroes and popular figures in media and in history who've always worn armor and masks, it's now become popular for hero's and villains to wear face coverings that should make no sense. I feel like I've seen this 2B and 9S like face coverings in tons of art ever since Automata came out. Heck, think about how many people love and have things for villains in masks. The From Souls series and the spinoffs are filled with characters that are supposed to be freaky with no eyes, representing a whole lot of theme stuff in the text and lore, but the gamers on the non essay end do not care lol.



You can't exactly say that Meta's Quest marketing or Bigscreens marketing of people in HMDs having a good time has turned people off really, just the scumbags like zucc himself and shitty platforms like facebook. Bigscreen released an hour-long video advertising the BSB2 that's just the BS CEO and VRC's main social media guy Tupper talking about how much of a good time they're having in and around the VR scene and how busy shit is for them.



And how about the images in my post? I'm supposed to be a guy blinded in his house in the middle of some kind of dystopic nightmare. But instead, you see the models I'm wearing smiling. Some of that is configured in into the hand/fingure expressions, and the eyes are all automatic because I don't have ET. But In the pictures where I and my friends are smiling with our mouths open, that's real. Because I've had a Babble or a VFT when those were taken and the Red Nova has FT. If they were videos, you could hear the smiles in our voices (or maybe some frustrations in mine, because I lost right after in that GIGAS pic was taken and spiking the ball in VRC volleyball is challenging), because we're having a blast.



The inconvenience is melting away with time. I guarantee the majority in this thread aren't actually daily users of VR, because they have no reason to be. But the level of friction of a wired HMD and a full body setup can be mitigated if you know what you're doing. I could be in VR in full body in less than 5 minutes (6 point) in my dedicated setup. In about a year, the same could be said for a wireless HMD and you'd be able to stow your devices away with no running cables and not have to warm your full body up/run base stations (slimes/LH), because FluxPose is gonna be kick a

Engineering isn’t like the science fields and you really don’t get much career advancement from having a PhD unless you are going into academia or heavily on the research side of things (a tiny portion of engineering as a whole). There are people who do one just because it’s something that their interested in, and that’s cool, but it’s not going to fast track you to anything.
