I will never understand why some people want their country to be overrun with millions of illegal immigrants who contribute very little and end up in poverty or worse.

Slavery never ended in the US. They just replaced it with a minimum wage that's below a living wage.

If you think about it, slavery would be far too expensive to continue anyway. Having to house, feed and care for your human property is very expensive. Better to just pay them fuck all and not have to worry about any of that stuff.

That's well below the eligibility for Medicaid and many other welfare programs, you also wouldn't pay any federal income taxes and probably would receive a "tax refund" instead. The federal minimum wage also has no connection to what the legal minimum wage is in most locations nor do many people other than teenagers make it. McDonald's and grocery stores typically offer starting wages at two times that amount for example.

The big generational disconnect is knowing how to read an analogue clock.

Last time this came up, they started comparing reading a clock and writing with a pen to reading a sundial and calling them obsolete skills.

There does seem to have been a shift in the consensus recently, though, towards Gen Z having boomer-level technical skills on anything that isn't a smartphone, so we'll see how this thread goes.

It is almost impossible to follow the plot of the first episode of Season 2 of Loki.

The very first sentence of the article is completely false. A person would have to not be paying attention to find following the plot "almost impossible."

They also claim that Quantumania is "required viewing" for Loki S2, which is just factually wrong so far. It doesn't reference that film at all. They're trying to make the show sound more complicated than it actually is.

Movie, and Oppenheimer all outgrossed both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

And this is just dishonest, purposefully misrepresenting the box office results of Guardians 3, which were actually fantastic. It made $850m, almost matching Guardians 2's $870m. There is absolutely no denying the success of Guardians 3 so to imply that it underperformed makes the agenda of the article pretty clear.
