Why would anyone need a guide to use a completely mundane term like "biological sex"?

I got curious and looked it up

https://styleguide.transjournalists.org/#biological-sex

Quote:The phrase biological sex is common in scientific writing as a synonym for birth sex, natal sex, or assigned sex at birth. Outside of medical literature, assigned sex at birth is preferable over biological sex if used in this way.

But biological sex in particular is a more politicized term than birth sex, natal sex, or assigned sex at birth. Colloquially, many critics of trans inclusion use biological sex instead of assigned sex at birth to falsely imply that a person’s “real” sex is unchangeable, can only be male or female, is only reflected by their anatomy as assessed at birth, or is always readily apparent.

Sounds a lot like "Our opposing movement likes to use this term so you should use the terms associated with our movement instead"

So those critics use the term correctly and it would be better to not so as to create deliberate confusion.

Time stamped it, but it’s at 31 minutes exactly if that doesn’t work.

This feels like someone not understanding the point of the original issue.

Afaik this complaint stems from a couple of animated movies turning the black main character into different creatures. Princess and the frog, some Will Smith movie where he turns into a pigeon and Soul. Basically people were just saying "hey can we have an animated movie where the main character remains a black human for the majority of it"

Now what this shouldn't mean at all is that you can never turn black characters into animals. For the run time of split fiction Zoe turns into a creature for like.... 10% of it? Not to mention that this also applies to the white character.

So basically one of those cases where a highly specific complaint gets turned into some nonsensical rule, a rule that has no real logic to it and makes you racist and deserving of condescending rants

So only make white people into animals?

like I've said in the past, making all your fiction into sonic the hedgehog type furry worlds is the only hack that avoids claims of racism or various types of LGBT biases in relation to race...at least as long as you don't make a big strong brute character and then voice him by a black man

never any issues like "oh you made the greedy character look jewish" or "why are only 10% of the characters in your game black HMMMM?!??!"

I remember when sex being unchangeable and separate from gender, which was the thing that was societal and fluid, was goodthink.

The house is in Tennessee. That’s the whole story about the election. People born in New York, or lived there for many years, outvoted by those who arrived in the past few.

I had assumed she wasn't white... Lot of self loathing happening there.

Hitchens said one of the rising problems on the left post-Bush was the reluctance to accept the times America actually is on the right side of history.
