While I'm finding myself sympathetic to increasingly extreme forms of climate protest, it seems like this could have been done at a time that was extremely inconvenient without being quite so life threatening. Was a pretty big fan of the movie as a kid but when I grew up and heard the stories about the what some of the actors went through and what they dealt with during their careers I just couldn't bring myself to watch it anymore. Even if this specific movie didn't directly have anything to do with it (I don't know) just regardless after hearing the stories i just wasn't into watching it again.

HBO’s Harry Potter remake/reboot or whatever is going to be so massive. Hype never really went away for the franchise despite being complete for over a decade now. Gonna be the early 2000’s all over again. 

Also, the first two full cast audio versions of the books on Audible have been fantastic so far, had forgotten a bunch of stuff from the early books so it’s largely been like experiencing them for the first time again. 

And Era trying to pretend the popularity of the series isn’t about to explode again will be fascinating. Can’t hide from the 7+ year run HBO will be on adapting the whole series, no matter how much they’ll want to try to.

For me, it helps to know that there's a difference between "staying informed" and "being stuck in the 24 hour news and social media cycle."

I went through my phase where I truly felt that I needed to be fully absorbed in the "fast news media" ecosystem in order to stay informed. What I quickly learned is that divesting from 24 hour "newstainment" media, limiting my social media absorption, and valuing the slow absorption of thoughtful and qualified experts didn't result in me being less informed.

It’s a good joke but it’s unrealistic. The right is COMPLETELY fractured right now, visibly. The left is harder to get on the same page mostly because centrists who don’t believe in anything transformative enough to change. They are effectively normal conservatives in a normal government.
