Maybe you should re-read my post because it seems you missed my entire point: he doesn't need to do any of these things, he has remained in power with minimal consequences for 10 years now despite everything being known (ok, he lost an election, and won it again, meanwhile he continued to get richer and richer and influence USA politics).

Xi Jinping needs to do these things because otherwise he would be out of power soon. The USA wishes it had half of China's grassroots level of culture of criticism towards authority, protesting, and history of revolutionary politics.

Also, technicisms and all that but China is not a fascist state, unlike the current USA. It doesn't have a (state-directed) culture of glorification of violence especially against minorities, oligarchs and the big corporations don't run the government (the communist party actively tries to control and restrict their power for their own aims), and importantly it doesn't employ a rhetoric of ethnic (white) supremacism which sees ethnic minorities as the evil other to be enslaved or exterminated; among the main things it constitutes a fascist state and which the USA absolutely does have. You are confusing certain forms of authoritarianism with that. Oh, and I would absolutely prefer to live in China than in the fucking US.

Also, when I put people on ignore is because I notice a consistent repeated pattern of posting and for the sake of my own mental health wellbeing, not because I choose to remain ignorant.

What realistically would you like me to do? Honest question. LTX-2 just came out and does video + audio all at once, in other words it's like OpenAI's Sora except free and without their shitty corporate limits that rejects prompts for copyrighted characters or whatever

it can be run on local hardware offline, 4000 series cards can do it, probably 3090 as well, looks like up to 15 seconds of generation, and you can give it any image to start with

and it's actually very high quality (expectations for "what AI can currently do" quality) with good prompt adherence

While I understand their concern, at some point, movie theaters have to acknowledge that their existence is not a universal right and they need to provide an objectively superior experience in order to prove their value.

Tickets are too expensive. Theaters are hot and poorly maintained. Employees are underpaid and ill-equipped to actually enforce anti-disruptive behavioral policies.

Adding a nacho bar or chicken wings isn't a solution. Ponying up to provide an experience that will make people want to leave their homes is the answer. I'd love for my immediate thought when a movie I want to see is announced not to be "oh god I'm going to have to go the theater aren't I" but that's where we are.

I heard that going to the movies in the US is comically expensive even if you don’t buy food.

As far as I remember it was less people being upset about a Hispanic main character and more people upset that part 2 wouldn't be another "let's go lesbians" game. Some of them tried to dress it up as a "lack of diversity" which was pretty silly when the main character is Hispanic
