I'd also add that everyone in other countries knows that talk about how there will be protests or the army will never execute on those orders or how we should cause more pain are all hollow when we all know that the second Trump pushes a country too far and there is bloodshed because of it on American soil, all the political parties and most of the citizens will lock in and want retribution.

Trying to prevent that today is imperative for multiple reasons.

It's also why all talk about us all being the same is completely empty.

What realistically would you like me to do? Honest question. I understand the anger, but it's not like I can go to a store, buy a gun, and storm the white house without being shot from hundreds of yards away. Our military just kidnapped a god damn president. US citizens that actually care about what's happening literally can do nothing against this fascist regime. My wife and I are actively trying to move out of the country, and at least that way our taxes stop contributing - and yes I realize that that option is a privilege.

Not really. It's like most Russian vassal states the "left" or "communists" are pretty much controlled opposition keeping the religious zealots in power. Mostly because how the thing is set-up and controlled (secret police trained by KGB) echoes the old communist systems as do subsidies for the workers and public services (i.e. the instruments of control to reward the masses or punish). So they don't really mind the religious part of the state running everything and help out to organize the state. The same alliance Putin has with the communists in Russia. 

But by now these countries are so broke that all they can offer the people is $7 a month and Russia is bogged down in Ukraine and Wagner no longer exists so Putin can only offer asylum to ousted leaders and can't save their ass. In fact they can't even save their oil tankers from Cap'n Trump the Oil Pirate.

I would guess it's the prince in exile, the descendant of the last Shah. A portion of the protesters, and a big swathe of the emigre community seems to see him as the most promising future leader for Iran. I'm guessing they're hoping to reestablish a constitutional monarchy when the current regime collapses.
