Shreds gets off train after 58 hours in cattle class. Sees weird old man in wig. Suddenly realizes he can't go home and will actually have to suck a dick to keep roof over his head.

I'm no expert on this stuff but can't you basically be addicted to anything that's pleasurable in the moment but can also cause problems long term if you do it constantly (alcohol, junk food, videogames, etc)? It all comes down to self-control, moderation and discipline. Just going "lulz porn addiction isn't REAL, i look at it several hours a day and i'm FINE!!!" while simultaneously crying every day that you're touch-starved and deserve real love reeks of cognitive dissonance.

Not saying porn addiction is the root of Mald's problems but it most definitely is a contributing factor to it or a coping mechanism. Maybe if he quit jerking so much and complaining that he can't get accepted for disability checks, he would apply himself towards a viable life he so desperately claims he wants.

Nazis did not invent calling things "degenerate", not even in the same era, the communists had been condemning things for over a decade at that point.

This quote tweet has multilayered embarrassment because the original poster is 19 while Malds is 38. The original poster still has a life ahead of them meanwhile Malds just eggs on the cycle of self-loathing, consumerism and rot.

Definitely looks like exactly what you'd expect to see in a middle aged lesbian's apartment.

You see this story a lot, as provided by the examples here, on social media from people who are demonstrably not gifted and almost certainly were not gifted children.

We also see it from a generation that was always told it was gifted by all adults. I was told this too, but I wasn't stupid enough to believe it except where demonstrated. Namely that I could read far better than my peers, and tested at college level in 3rd grade or whatever. Also algebra and some other math, but not all maths, was super easy and I again consistently outproduced my peers. I never stopped reading and engaging in math from it though. I didn't give up at everything because there were things that interested me and there were things for which mastery was fun. For other people it could be sports or a hobby. What did these guys ever try to master? Getting the gist of something isn't the same as knowing it let alone mastery. They don't even do this with video games.

These dudes expect you to believe that everything came easy and they were always on top then suddenly things became too hard. But this isn't the case in school because school is built on gradual expansion from previous knowledge. Many of these guys, I'm including other than these three, often never went to college. Getting into college in America is fucking simple, so is having it mostly paid for. I forget what the new SAT is but if you get a 27/36 on the ACT you basically won't be rejected by a college unless your grades are abject shit. If you do super well lots of states and so on will pay you to go to college. Unless your "giftedness" stopped at like age 10 (which is far from "being thrust into adulthood") you can wing this. Yet guys like this or that Kevin Gibes weirdo never even apply or go for a year or so and drop out while constantly talking about how gifted they were.

The actual "real gifted" kids before adulthood are the dudes and gals pulling 4.0's while in five hundred afterschool activities, you can't "work" to achieve that from nothing or even average. Not even with our absurd grade inflation practices. I never had that work ethic so I never even tried, but the stuff like history where I actually are apparently gifted, I got A's all through grad school with little effort and I still naturally am interested and will read and engage in that probably forever. These dudes have nothing. Even the stuff they claim to be fans of they aren't really half the time.

TLDR: I refuse to believe this meme story for almost anyone who claims it, I'd love to hear of an actual example. Even somebody famous. But I suspect it's one with no examples. We don't live in a society that suddenly thrusts you into adulthood.

The adulthood they're running away from is being confronted with the reality that you don't get better at anything unless you practice it skillfully over time. This goes for learning, work, relationships, just about everything. Being resilient is a skill that no one teaches you, you just have to walk through the fire yourself some of the time and many of these people just couldn't make it through the fire one time and stopped believing  Mjcry

You can't build self esteem unless you do things that make you proud of yourself, it's like the key building block in git gud.
