I think some sort of staff message and/or OT about Americans action (or inaction) against the Trump admin would be helpful. Every related thread in Etc is devolving into the same replies/arguments. It's an important conversation to have but is consistently derailing threads about other news.

Whats really needed is a pinned message telling the American users to chill with taking all attacks against American Society personally.



It should be clear as day that when we non-american users say "American" were talking about American Society, and your people at large instead of any personal attack on any given individual. And if there was a crack down on people tying to make it all about them, then these threads wouldn't go in loops and get off topic as they are.



Like let's be real here. When we say Israelis it's clear were talking about the society. When we say the same for the Denonyms for France/UK/China/Japan/Russia/ect, we're talking about their society. And it's not just the non-americans who use the words in this way, the American users do to.



But if you even dare to say "American" you get dog piled by a hundred people saying that it's not fair they are being called out because they personally went to a protest when that's not the damn point.

Seconded. It's exhausting to go into every relevant thread to try and discuss the new news only to see the same people making the same posts about how Americans don't care, that we are doing nothing, or even more offensive posts that accuse us of being complicit or worse. Everyone knows how bad it is. Everyone knows how shit it is. But everyone also knows that those of us that care are already doing what we can. Especially when you take into account the political make up of this board.





We all know. We are all doing what we can. Repeating the same stuff in every adjacent thread doesn't help the discussion and it always turns into arguments and bans.

What's really exhausting is seeing Americans repeatedly making themselves the victims in threads about Trump threatening other countries.

a lot of threads on very important subjects, particularly on the OT side, end up just getting bogged down in the same, tired, circular arguments, often bordering on meta-discussions that skew away from the actual issue. It makes me wonder how equipped this community is in general to have what should and could be very important, meaningful conversations in favor of a lot of grandstanding.

This right here is exactly my point. Both are exhausting. Again it is an important conversation to have, but it doesn't need to happen separately in every relevant thread.

If nothing else just isolate it to a specific thread that covers the protests and other actions (or inactions). That way the relevant news threads don't continually fall in arguments.

And only half of those are dramatic escalations in policy or stark warnings that clearly deserve the thread created for them.

If people are getting exhausted reading the concerns of people threatened by the United States, well, I don't know what to tell you, beyond adding to your ignore list, ignoring the threads altogether, or spamming the 'report' button to get these threads closed with a quickness (as so clearly is happening).

Yeah tbh I think that is absolutely worthy of a thread.

Not saying that it should have been locked because that is definitely big news, but at this point we really just need to have a Trump Greenland Mega thread.



We have like 5 or 6 active threads all centered around Trump and his current obsession with Greenland. With more being posted each day. Thats enough to where threads are going to start to get buried.

I get the reflex, however I think the wrong thread was closed IMO. That is actually substantive news as opposed to other threads we're seeing at the moment. I agree with the above poster that there should probably be a megathread at this point.

The leadership here needs to spearhead a megathread if that's the case then, because the community is following the established rule of 'new news, new thread'.

Hey guys, a few years back I went on an "Orgy party" that was a complete disaster. I made a thread about it here and some of the posters recommended going to a swingers club instead. After the Orgy debacle, I just stopped looking for adventures and went back to vanilla.

Last year I met this lady that was/is into the swinger scene but she is now single. One day she told me to meet her at her other apartment she shares with friends. Maybe, just maybe, it's wrong whether you do it to Americans or Non-Americans.  Maybe we shouldn't use a minority of the population to judge the group.  It's wrong when you do it to black people but apparently just fine when you do that with white people, Jews, russians, gamers; etc.
